8th Grade Team Wins Varsity Playoffs

Congratulations to the 8th grade varsity soccer team, for finishing their regular season undefeated as well as winning the league championships this past weekend!!

Playoff game one was against St. Gabriel’s, defending champions from last year. Saint James came out strong ending the first half 3-0 and dominating the game until the end with a 4-0 win.

The Championship game was against Corpus Christi who beat St John Paul in a close 2-1 victory earlier that morning.  SJS defeated Corpus in an intense, well played game ending in a score of 2-1. The team closed out the season as undefeated Champions, bringing home 2 more trophies for our school.

Phenomenal effort was shown by everyone on and off the field.  Alec Bairos led the team with 4 of the 6 goals scored in the tournament, with assistance from Asrar Hossain.  A special acknowledgement also to the team’s goal keepers Dominic Cavallo and Kyle Pelletier for making some tremendous saves in both games to secure the victory.

Saint James School Mass This Sunday

On Sunday, June 11th at 9:00am, Saint James School will host a special Mass with students serving as readers, ushers, and gift bearers.   All Saint James School students and their parents are invited to attend in a show of support for our school!  In addition, there will be coffee & donuts offered in the church hall after the Mass.

Saint James School students are encouraged to wear their school uniforms (all students serving in any capacity must wear their SJS winter uniform).  This is a great way for the Saint James Church parishioners (many of whom very generously support our school) to see the exceptional students they are investing in.

All Saint James School families are welcome regardless of faith or home church.

8th Grade Videos

Several of the 8th grade parents asked for a copy of the video shown at the banquet last week.  You can view a copy of the video here: https://youtu.be/3qlTPl8tmb8

While the videos will remain on YouTube for some time, if you would like a permanent copy of the Clap Out, Talent Show, and/or Banquet Video (or any of the pictures of the graduates taken on their last day), please contact Mrs. McNamara (kmcnamara@saintjamesschool.net) or Mrs. Guenther (aguenther@saintjamesschool.net).  The videos are quite large and you will need to provide us with a flash drive (they cannot be e-mailed).

5th Grade Board Games

For their last book report of the year, the 5th grade classes have been working in small groups to create a board game based on the book that they read.  Their instructions for this project included creating a game board that depicted the setting of the story, game pieces that would represent the characters, and a game ending that would coincide with the conclusion of the book.  The rest was up to the students’ imagination.

Yesterday, the 4th grade classes came up to the 5th grade classrooms to play the various games with their creators.  Kudos to all our 5th grade students on the tremendous job they did with this assignment! (click images to enlarge)

Mom's Night Out

The HSA would like to offer a huge “thank you” to Lucky Taco for hosting Mom’s Night Out last night and for generously providing delicious appetizers for the group!  It was a fun way for everyone to come together and share some laughs.
