4th Grade Students Present Biographies

Public speaking is just one of the many important skills that students learn at Saint James School.  For this month’s book report, 4th grade students read a biography and presented information on their famous person (gathered from reading the book and online research) to the class.  Dressing as the subject of their report was optional.  Here are many of our 4th grade students who chose to dress in costume for their presentation and others showing their poster reports (click pictures to enlarge).

SJS Students Help at MACC

Last Sunday, several SJS families volunteered their time at the MACC food pantry in town.  This is, of course, a busy time of year for MACC a lot of help is needed with unloading, separating, and stocking items to benefit members of our community who are in need for the Holidays.  Students and parents also helped date and organize the donations that will serve a longer term need.  Parents attending felt this was a great experience for our students to better understand the need in our community, and ways that people can help – not only through donations – but just giving their time and energy.

MACC is looking for assistance again this Sunday from from 4:00pm – 6:30pm. If anyone is interested in bringing their family to help, please contact Mary Ann Creamer at ma1283@att.com.

Amazon Smile

Please help us spread the word!  Shoppers on retail website Amazon.com can support Saint James School (for free) each time they make a purchase.

To participate in Amazon Smile, Amazon’s charitable giving program, you must enter Amazon by going to www.Smile.Amazon.com.  The website experience is exactly the same, but you will be prompted to select a charity to support.  Search for “St. James Church Corp” (donations go to the school’s account…this is just the name in Amazon’s system for tax number purposes) or by clicking the “Get Started” button below.

Each time you make a purchase using Amazon through the www.Smile.Amazon.com website, Saint James School will receive 0.5% of the purchase price in our account.  To date, we have been averaging $50 – $75 a quarter using this program.  With Christmas shopping coming up, we hope to increase this amount for the next distribution period (December 31st).

Please share this information with your family and friends and remember to use the Smile.Amazon address each time you purchase from Amazon going forward.  If you have any questions, please e-mail our Director of Advancement, Amy Guenther, at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.
