In order to volunteer at Saint James School, volunteers are required to have a background check and attend a VIRTUS Training Session (you only need to do this one time, not every year).
If you plan to volunteer at Saint James at any point (including signing up to be a lunch helper, room parent, or field trip chaperone), please note that there are several upcoming VIRTUS sessions scheduled including September 20th (6:30pm) at East Catholic High School in Manchester, and September 28th (6:30pm) at Saint James Church.
To participate in a VIRTUS session, you must Pre-Register on the VIRTUS Site. To access the schedule of upcoming sessions and register to attend one, click here and select Hartford, CT (Archdiocese).

Parents of middle school students are asked to attend without their children. Please report to your child’s homeroom at 6:30pm. The Scholastic Book Fair opens at 6:00pm that evening as well should you wish to browse prior to 6:30pm. (please enter the school through the gym).
Meet the Teachers Nights
/in Uncategorized /by jonesenTonight, September 19th, we will host our annual Meet the Teachers Night for Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade families beginning at 6:30pm. Students are invited to attend with their parent(s) – siblings may also attend. The Scholastic Book Fair opens at 6:00pm on this evening as well should you wish to browse prior to visiting the classrooms (all K – 5th Grade guests this evening will enter the school through the gym, Pre-K families may go right to the Pre-K).

Spirit Sticks at Meet the Teachers Night
/in St. James Notices /by jonesenThe HSA is selling Spirit Sticks again this year. Spirit Sticks are a fun way for students to express themselves and decorate their backpacks. Start with the Saint James School/Sabers Key Ring (front and back shown below): The Key Rings are $5 each and with this purchase you receive your first spirit stick FREE. Then, purchase additional spirit sticks for $1/each to enhance your collection.

The HSA will be selling spirit sticks in the gym TONIGHT (9/19) during Meet the Teachers Night.
Throughout the school year, you can also purchase spirit sticks (and/or the SJS key chain) by kindly filling out the Spirit Sticks Order Form and returning it with EXACT CASH ONLY through your child’s school folder in an envelope marked “Spirit Stick Order, For Kerry Caldwell, c/o Taylor.” Orders will be distributed to the teachers and sent home with your child. Cross Country Uniforms
/in Uncategorized /by jonesenAttention parents of our XC Runners: Just a reminder about the XC uniforms – please wash them in cold water and hang them to dry. Also, the uniforms need to be returned at the end of the season so please do not alter them in any way. At the end of the season, please put them in a baggie with your child’s name and return them to Coach O’Neill. There will be a $40 charge for uniforms that are not returned or uniforms not returned in the same condition they were given to you.

Today, the book fair will be open until 2:30pm if you would like to stop in to shop after picking up your student. You can also shop during the Meet the Teachers nights on Tuesday and Wednesday, or send your child/ren with CASH tomorrow to purchase on their own.

Box Tops Winner
/in St. James Notices /by jonesenCongratulations to our two 5th grade classes on winning our most recent Box Tops contest, with over 1,500 Box Tops submitted!. There were over 5,000 Box Tops counted yesterday, which equates to over $50 for our school. The next Box Tops contest will be held in November. Thanks you to everyone who participated!
