Attention Ski Club Families

Observing Ash Wednesday

Today our K-8 students observed Ash Wednesday with a prayer service with Father Marcin and Deacon Ramon, with Pre-K3 through Grade 8 students having the opportunity to receive ashes.  Since today is also Valentine’s Day, our students/staff also participated in a $1.00+ dress down day in support of The American Heart Association.

Instrumental Music Note

If we have school tomorrow (Tuesday), all Wednesday lessons will meet tomorrow.  If we have a snow day tomorrow, students should bring their instruments on Wednesday as usual.

Reminders for This Week

WEDNESDAY

* In honor of Valentine’s Day Saint James School students and staff may dress down for a $1.00+ donation to the American Heart Association.  Dollars should be brought in to school on WEDNESDAY and given to the homeroom teacher.  Dress down tops must have red, white, pink, or purple to match the theme.  Bottoms may be (non-ripped) jeans or sweatpants.  Please remember all standard dress down guidelines from the handbook apply.

* Students will attend a prayer service and receive ashes for Ash Wednesday.  If you do not want your child to receive ashes, please email their homeroom teacher.

THURSDAY

* Items/donations for the 2024 Class Baskets are due by this coming Thursday (2/15).  Room parents and volunteers will assemble baskets by 2/22 at the latest and ticket sales will begin on 2/26 for those that are not attending the Jingle Bell Ball/Gala on 3/9. Please reach out to your child’s class parent with questions.

* Gala Auction Item donations are due should you wish to donate to our Live/Silent Auction: Jingle Bell Ball Auction Donation.  The silent auction (online) will be open for bidding the day before the Jingle Bell Ball for those that wish to bid early or will not be attending the event.

FRIDAY

No School – Midwinter Recess begins and runs through Tuesday, 2/20.  We return to school on 2/21.

Lenten Rice Bowls

Lent is a time for us to make self-sacrifices in order to aid others.  Our faith calls on us to make this a priority and, as such, we are once again participating in the Lenten Rice Bowl program through Catholic Relief Services.

On Ash Wednesday our Pre-K through Grade 8 students will receive their “Rice Bowls” from their homeroom teacher. The goal is for students to earn change (for acts of kindness or other tasks performed at home) to put into the rice bowl.  Money collected will then be donated to Catholic Relief Services to help fight hunger and malnutrition around the globe.  You can visit crsricebowl.org to watch videos and learn more.

If your family will be participating, please note that Rice Bowls are due back to homeroom teachers the last week of March.
