Tomorrow Morning:
Parents should park in the Saint James Church parking lot, Saint Mary’s Church Parking Lot (or acceptable street locations) and walk up to the school with their child/ren. We will meet in the staff lot between the main school and the Pre-Kindergarten facility. Please bring all supplies for the first day of school. You will wait with your child in the lot until the school bell rings. Please arrive between 7:30am and 7:45am and expect there to be a lot of traffic for the first few days.
Once the final bell rings (7:55am), all parents are invited to join the HSA in the school cafeteria for the “Boo Hoo!/Woo Hoo!” Welcome Back Coffee & Danish Social. Parents should walk over to the breezeway entrance after students go into the classrooms with their teacher. Come catch up with friends you have not seen in a while or meet new families joining the school this year. Volunteers & staff will be on hand to answer your last minute questions about pickup, aftercare, etc.
All 1st grade – 8th grade students may bring a water bottle and fruit/veggie snack to school each day, beginning tomorrow. Kindergarten students should refer to the note from their teacher for snacks and lunch.
Tomorrow Afternoon:
Dismissal for parents picking up their children at 12:05pm will be OUTSIDE in the same lot as the morning (as referenced in the letter from Mrs. Zorger). Kindergarten will be closest to the back (grassy area), followed by 1st grade, etc. Our 8th grade will stand closest to the street.
** Please remember to tell your child how they are getting home tomorrow (including bus number for those taking the bus) and all teachers – particularly K – 3rd grade – appreciate a written note with specific details on how your child is to be dismissed during the first few days of school.**
Aftercare/Extended Day:
If your child will be going to aftercare on the first day of school, please remember that they need a lunch and drink from home. No Hot Lunch or Milk is served on half-days. All families must have already pre-registered to use the program – even returning families must have registered for the new year. Any questions should be directed to Ms. Jean at jburdick@saintjamesschool.net.
Lunch:
Returning families, please remember to fund your child’s lunch account if they will be buying hot lunch this year. Students new to Grades 1-8 this year should have already received a separate e-mail containing instructions on how to sign up for an on-line lunch account. If you did not receive this, please email Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net. You can also send in exact change (in an envelope labeled with their name) or a check for multiple lunches made out to “Manchester Hot Lunch Program” detailing your child’s name. If you have multiple children at the school, please detail how you would like the funding split among the students. The lunch calendar is on our website or can be viewed HERE.
If you have any questions, please contact the main office (we will be in from 2:00pm-4:00pm today after our staff meeting) at 860.643.5088 (option 1), or e-mail our Advancement Director at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning!
