Christmas Dress Down on Friday (12/22)

Mrs. Zorger has announced that Friday, December 22nd will be a (free) Christmas-themed dress down day to thank everyone for all of their generous support during the past few months with our fundraisers and collections for charity.

Students participating in the Christmas Bowl Volleyball Tournament on Friday will need to wear the color designated for their team.

Please remember, all standard dress down policies apply.

Mass Today

Special thanks to our team of 3rd grade students (and 8th grade altar servers) who helped at our school Mass today.  Our 5th graders also did a great job helping the Kindergarten students, who attended their first school Mass of the year this morning (two of our K students – pictured – had their 5th grade sibling as a buddy…so cute!).  Also, special thanks to Father Carlson for a wonderful, interactive homily to help remind our students about the true meaning of Christmas!

Pre-K Christmas Show

The Pre-K Christmas Show was held yesterday afternoon and was full of major cuteness!  Here are a few pictures of our Pre-K students (who have permission to be in our shared photos) during yesterday’s performance.  To view these pictures on our Facebook page, click HERE.

Inclement Weather Policy Reminder

Please click HERE to review Saint James Schools’ Inclement Weather Policy.  Please make sure that you are receiving text/e-mail alerts from one of the local stations.  Or, watch the TV for “Manchester Public Schools.”  Saint James School follows what the public schools do for delays/closings so please be sure to select that option when you sign up for text/e-mail alerts.  Saint James School does not typically send e-mail notifications of closures/delayed openings.

You can click HERE to sign up for alerts from NBC30 or HERE to sign up for alerts from WFSB Channel 3 (remember to choose “Manchester Public Schools”).

2nd Grade Gingerbread Houses

Yesterday our 2nd graders participated in the much-loved tradition of making gingerbread houses to bring home for Christmas. Below are some pictures of the kids creating and showing off their gingerbread masterpieces (click pictures to enlarge).  There was even a special visit from Santa!   (to view this post on Facebook, click HERE)

Parking

Please do not park in the space marked as “RESERVED” with two specific license plate numbers on it in the staff lot between the Main School and the Pre-Kindergarten facility.  This spot was purchased by a school family during our 2017 Gala and is to be used ONLY by the person that purchased it.  Thank you for your attention to this and for sharing this with any family members/friends that pick up your child/ren.

Tree of Blessings Ceremony

Thank you to all the families who recognized their loved ones via our 2017 Tree of Blessings.  Our 8th grade students hosted a beautiful prayer ceremony for the entire school this morning, recognizing each person named on the tree.

SJS Choir Visits Local Assisted Living Facilities

Yesterday, our Saint James School Choir, led by Mrs. Archangeli, traveled to two local assisted living facilities – The Residence at South Windsor Farms and Manchester Manor – to sing for residents and staff.  The audience at both places really enjoyed the performances and sang along with our choir on several traditional Christmas carols. Father Cavanaugh joined the group at the Residence in South Windsor, where Saint James Parish Priest Father Burns is now residing. (see picture below).  (If you are a member of Saint James Church and wish to send Father Burns a Christmas card, you can mail it to: Father William Burns, c/o The Residence at South Windsor Farms, 200 Deming St, South Windsor, CT 06074.)

Parents can watch a short video of select songs HERE.

Attention Parents of 1st-3rd Graders

One of our Saint James School parents – Mrs. Piotrowski – is putting together an after-school board game club for students in grades 1-3.  The club will meet every other Tuesday beginning in January and will be limited to approximately 10 kids per session on a first-come basis.  Students can come sharpen their gaming skills in chess, checkers, dominoes and more! Look out for a flyer/permission slip being sent via the e-mail in early January.
