Grade 3 Reading Café

This morning, third grade students were surprised (and excited!) find their classrooms transformed into “Reading Cafés” – each with a crackling fire (on the viewboard), decorated tables, and their teacher dressed as a maître d’. This special lesson was to teach the 3rd graders about different genres of books and to encourage them to broaden their reading horizons….

All Bands Practice Tomorrow

All three bands will rehearse tomorrow – Tuesday, November 21st – due to the short week.  Please make sure your student has their instrument tomorrow.

Notice About Catholic Sacraments

Information regarding Baptism, First Penance, and First Communion for ALL SJS Catholic Families:

* If you have a child who has not received the sacrament of Baptism, regardless of age, and you would like for them to do so this school year, please reach out to Rachel Bursiewicz, Leader of Religious Education at Manchester Catholic Community at leaderofeducation@manchestercatholic.org. or 860-643-2403 ext. 105.

* Likewise, if you have a child in grades 3 to 8 who has not received the sacraments of First Penance and First Eucharist and you would like them to do so this year, please reach out to Ms. Bursiewicz using the information above and she will coordinate with our school.

* If your child is in grades 2 – 8 and will be making these sacraments this year, please note that there are two required Family Days for Sacrament preparation.  Families are asked to attend 10:00a.m. Mass at Saint Bartholomew Church and continue the preparation immediately following Mass, on both Sunday, January 21st and Sunday, May 5th.  The student and at least one parent must attend.

Poster Contest UPDATE

For students participating in the Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest, please note that paper size should not exceed 11×17 (the flyer says “approximately 11×17”, so this is a clarification sent to us by the Knights of Columbus).

St. Bridget School Craft Fair

On Saturday, December 2nd from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Saint Bridget School will host over 60 crafters selling handmade soaps and lotions, Christmas décor, wood carved items, jewelry, stocking stuffers, crocheted items, ornaments, the best kettle popcorn, and so much more.   They will also be serving lunch items for purchase in the school cafeteria.  Admission and parking are free.

Important Calendar Notes

**Please remember, dismissal next Wednesday (November 22nd) will be at 11:00am (instead of 12:05pm as listed on the original calendar).  Aftercare will be in session on this day beginning at the 11:00am time.  Students going to aftercare will need a lunch from home.

**The first Advent Wreath lightning was mistakenly listed on our school calendar as occurring on November 27th.  Advent, however runs December 3rd through December 24th this year, so the first Advent wreath lighting will actually be held on Monday, December 4th.  We apologize for the confusion.

**As a reminder, there is NO AFTERCARE available on December 15th which is a 12:05pm dismissal day (before care will still be available that day).
