Tardy Reminder

Mrs. Zorger would like to remind parents of the importance of bringing your child(ren) to school on time each morning.  There were an excessive number of late arrivals this morning.

Please remember, late arrivals are disruptive to the teacher, morning announcements, and the classroom routine.   If you find yourself not making it to school between 7:30am and 7:50am (students should be in line with their class by the 7:55am bell), Mrs. Zorger asks that you please take a few moments today to talk to your child/ren about the importance of being punctual and help them readjust their morning schedule accordingly.

8th Grade Show

The Grade 8 Show will be held this evening (Wednesday, May 23rd) in the Gym beginning at 6:30pm.  Students performing should arrive between 6:00-6:15pm and report to the cafeteria.  All SJS families and friends are welcome to attend.

Saint James School Lawn Signs

The Saint James School “Now Enrolling” lawn signs are out of storage and looking for homes (literally).  If you live in a medium to high traffic area or neighborhood (or own a business in a high-traffic area) and are willing to put a sign on your lawn in support of Saint James School, we would appreciate it!  Signs can be picked up in the main office at the front desk or please call/e-mail Amy Guenther at the school to arrange drop-off.

As always, we appreciate any support you can provide in promoting our school!

3rd Grade Science Lesson on Small Animals

SJS 3rd graders have been learning about small animals and habitats as part of their science lessons. Students have just completed researching, writing, and illustrating a short book about an assigned animal. Today the 3rd graders dissected (sanitized) owl “pellets,” as they learned about owls and what they eat.  Here are a few pictures from Mrs. Phelan’s 3rd grade class.

Save the Date: Moms’ Night Out

On Monday, June 11, the HSA will be hosting a Mom’s Night Out at Lucky Taco in Manchester.  This will be a great way to catch up with fellow SJS moms before the start of summer vacation!  Please mark your calendars and keep an eye out for additional details.

1st Grade Butterfly Release

After saying a prayer for safe travels, SJS 1st graders released their butterflies into the wild yesterday afternoon. Our 1st grade students have watched these classroom pets go from caterpillars to chrysalises to butterflies as part of their science studies, keeping a journal with their personal observations throughout the transformation. The 1st grade classes have also been reading stories about butterflies and even visited the butterfly encounter on their field trip to the science center last week.  Here are a few pictures from yesterday’s butterfly release.
