Reminder: Lunch Accounts

With the end of the school year fast approaching, please take a moment to check your child/ren’s lunch account and ensure it is adequately funded to last them through the end of the school year.

Beginning June 1st, students must bring cash to school or have enough money in their account to purchase hot lunch.  If there is no money in their lunch account and they forgot to bring in cash, they will be asked to come to the office to call a parent to bring them a lunch from home.

A couple of reminders you should review with your child:

**If your child asks for a water, the town will charge an extra $0.50

**If your child asks for extra food (above the normal portion), the town charges for that as well

If you have trouble checking your child’s lunch account balance, please contact Denise Mayo at dmayo@saintjamesschool.net.

Reminders for Next Week

As a reminder, there is no school this coming Monday, May 28th, for Memorial Day.  Also, Wednesday, May 30th, is the Staff Appreciation Luncheon.  No HOT LUNCH will be served on Wednesday, all students will need a lunch from home that day.

Attention 8th grade parents

Chromebooks were collected from our 8th grade students today.  Several students indicated they left their power cable at home. If your child was one of those students, please make sure they bring it to school on Tuesday, labeled with their name.  Thank you for your help.

2018-2019 Kindergarten Orientation

Orientation for all incoming Kindergarten students for the 2018-2019 school year will be held on June 11th.

This is an exciting day as the incoming Kindergartners meet their teacher and get to visit their Kindergarten classroom for the first time!  Summer meet-ups at the school for incoming K students (and their parent/s) will be announced at the Orientation.

All registered families have been notified, however if you know someone who is still considering our Kindergarten program, please have them touch base with Amy Guenther at 860.643.5088 (x8) – or via e-mail – as soon as possible, even if just for informational purposes.

Special Morning Drop Off

A huge Thank You to the Manchester Fire Department for donating “a ride to school in a fire truck” to our 2018 SJS Gala. This morning Ryan Rafferty from the Pre-Kindergarten, along with her mom, were able to enjoy this special treat! Special thanks to the Rafferty and Lerner families for their bid on this cool prize in support of our school!

Dennis Uniforms Sale!

Beginning today and running through May 28th, Dennis Uniform is offering 15% off online and free shipping for orders over $25!

Squid Dissection

Special thanks to our Middle School teacher Mrs. Plante hosting an optional squid dissection for our 8th graders after school yesterday.  Students were able to identify the beak, gills, ink sack, heart, stomach, siphon, and more.  The students and parent volunteers found it to be an extremely interesting lab.

Student Helpers Needed For Next Year’s SJS Masses

Thank you to all our students who have volunteered to be readers, gift bearers, and greeters at our Sunday Children’s Masses at St. James Church.  We have received wonderful feedback from about these monthly Masses from both SJS families and Saint James Parishioners.

We are now looking to recruit our Readers, Gift Bearers & Greeters for the coming school year.  Students must be in Grades 3-8 (for the 2018-2019 school year) to participate.  All SJS Children’s Masses are at 9:00am the 2nd Sunday of each month – September through June.

If your child would like to participate in one of these capacities, please send an e-mail to Cindy Herr at cndherr@cox.net listing the parent’s name, student’s name, participation preference, and Mass dates that you/they are available to attend. Please note, you do not need to be a parishioner at Saint James Church to have your child help/attend.

Pre-K Students Wear Red Noses To End Childhood Hunger

In talking about how we can help others, today Pre-Kindergarten students talked about childhood hunger.  Here they are with their red noses, which are part of a special campaign aimed at raising awareness for childhood hunger.
