We are pleased to share more good news regarding our school! Last year marked two years since Saint James School completed our very successful ten-year re-accreditation through NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).
When the accreditation process was over, our faculty and administration went right to work on addressing the recommendations given by the commission in preparation for the two-year report. These recommendations included additional curriculum mapping, the creation of consistent writing rubrics, more frequent professional learning opportunities for staff, and an expanded technology curriculum. (All action items were things suggested by our staff during the self-evaluation process).
Last Spring, the faculty and administration, with assistance from our former principal, Mrs. Kanute, worked diligently to complete the required two-year report, detailing how we have addressed these recommended items. Mrs. Zorger would like to share the exemplary letter we received back from the commission and express her gratitude to the entire Saint James community for consistently maintaining the highest of standard for our school. Our continued accolades from NEASC are possible because of the shared commitment between home and school to ensure the best Catholic education for our students.

Pre-Kindergarten Openings

Mrs. Alicia Poth
Mrs. Poth will be joining our part-time teaching staff to assist with 4th & 5th grade technology and middle school STREAM. Mrs. Poth, who has a Kindergartener, 3rd grader, and 5th grader at SJS holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from Penn State College of Medicine. Prior to taking some time off to raise her children, Mrs. Poth conducted laboratory research at UMASS Medical School as well as teaching college-level Biology for many years. Most recently, Mrs. Poth has spent several years as President of our Home & School Association and volunteers in numerous facets of the school community.
Mrs. Tonya (Nia) Page-Richardson
Mrs. Page-Richardson will be joining our Pre-Kindergarten teaching team as a part-time teacher’s aide in the 3-year-old program. A proud mother of a (newly enrolled) Saint James School 3rd grader, Mrs. Page-Richardson worked for many years in the NYC arts and cultural world before finding her true calling (and genuine love, she says) working as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher’s assistant at St. Mary Catholic School in Royal Oaks, Michigan where her daughter was a student. The family relocated to the Glastonbury area this past summer when Mr. Richardson took over as department head for the Art and Art History program at UCONN.
Grades Online Log-In Info (Gr. 4-8)

Middle School Parents Needed

Scholastic Book Fair Next Week
/in St. James Notices /by Saint James SchoolOur Scholastic Book Fair will be held at Saint James School all next week!! Approximately 50% of all sales go towards purchasing new books for our school library and classrooms!
Students will all have an opportunity to visit the book fair with their class to look at the books and make a “Wish List.” They will have a secondary opportunity to purchase the items on their wish list via the eWallet (click to open) or by bringing cash to school. Parents can also shop after school Monday (2:10pm – 2:45pm) and/or at the “Meet The Teachers” nights.
Our book fair is also available online by clicking HERE. Books ordered via the online site will be shipped to the school for free and delivered to your child’s classroom.

Cross Country Help Needed
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolOur volunteer Cross Country coach – Mrs. O’Neill – has a very large group of XC runners this year and is in need of additional help from parents. If you enjoy running, please reach out to Mrs. O’Neill at the school to help. The students run 2:00pm – 3:30pm mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
