World Children’s Day – Friday, May 24

Many months ago Pope Francis declared that the Catholic Church’s first World Children’s Day would take place on the 25th and 26th of May.  Recognizing that children are the “hope of a people,” the Vatican is calling for celebration on two levels:  in Rome, where Pope Francis will meet with children from around the world; and in our parishes/schools.

Recognizing that children are the key to our future and that simple acts of kindness and offerings of peace are stepping stones to a better tomorrow, Pope Francis explained that he chose the Bible passage, “Behold, I make all things new,” as the theme for World Children’s Day because it reminds us that in order to make the world a better place, people need to be united.  We are also called to ponder, “What kind of world do we want to leave to the children who are growing up now?” It is a reminder that through the education and care of our youth, together we can help our children build a better tomorrow.  You can read the message from Pope Francis HERE.

Saint James School will Celebrate on Friday, May 24th with a special outdoor prayer ceremony.  Additionally, we are asking students to wear the following color shirts (with their typical Friday uniform bottoms) on Friday, May 24th:

PreK & K- White shirts to represent Antarctica
