Volunteers Needed – Scholastic Book Fair

We are still looking for several volunteers to help with our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair, particularly Monday, Oct 4th from 10:00am-11:30am.  Grandparents are welcome to come help too!  If you can assist at these – or any other times – please email Mrs. Poth at apoth@saintjamesschool.net.

You can read the information about our Scholastic Book fair and volunteer requirements HERE.

Part-Time Music Teacher Needed

Saint James School is still looking for a part-time music teacher to teach the general music curriculum to kindergarten through grade 8 students. Music background and teaching experience preferred. If you know of someone that might be interested in this position, please have them reach out to Mrs. Zorger with a letter of interest and resume.

Candy Bar Bingo Fun

Lots of smiles and fun at Saturday’s Candy Bar Bingo event sponsored by the SJS Home & School Association. Special thanks to our awesome 7th & 8th grade volunteers for helping us set-up and run the event and to Mrs. Poth for chairing.

1st Grade Prayer Towers

During their STREAM class, SJS 1st graders wrote (or drew a picture of) something they would like to pray for on a colored index card – then built the tallest tower possible out of 10 flat and 10 folded cards to help them lift that prayer up to God.

Reminder – Picture Day is this Monday 9/20

Individual Pictures will be taken on Monday, September 20th for all students.   For students in grades K-8, this is considered a DRESS DOWN (or “Dress Up”) Day, where students will come to school in whatever you want their picture taken in.  They will wear that attire for the entire school day.  Please note all student attire must adhere to the Dress Down guidelines on numbered page 11 of the 2021-2022 Parent Student Handbook.

Picture information flyers were sent home yesterday with students (Wednesday, 9/15).

There will not be “Class Pictures” taken this year due to social distancing guidelines.  Instead, class pictures will be a compilation of individual portraits.

Attention Grade 7 & 8 Parents

Our local Catholic High Schools (East Catholic, Xavier, and Mercy) have requested that we provide them with the names and home addresses of our 7th grade &  8th grade students so they can keep your family informed of upcoming Open House dates and admissions information.

If you would prefer that we DO NOT pass along your child’s information, please REPLY to this email – or email aguenther@saintjamesschool.net – by noon of this coming Monday (9/20).

Kindergarten STREAM Class

For their weekly STREAM special this morning, Kindergartners listened to the story Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss, then tried to build their own tower that would hold 10 apples.  The students had a blast watching Mrs. Poth balance the apples on each other’s creations and, inevitably, watching the apples roll away as their tower toppled under the weight.
