Spring Recess & Travel Protocol Reminder

As a reminder, Saint James School will be closed the week of April 11th for our Spring Recess.

If you will be traveling over break or at any other time for Sports, etc. please note that Manchester has updated their travel policy (which we follow).  The policy now states that any out-of-state travel for more than 24 hours requires a quarantine of 10 days or a negative COVID-19 test to return to school.   If you will be traveling out of state  (for more than 24 hours) at any point, please reach out to Mrs. Vignati (our school nurse) at 860.643.5088 (x3) in advance to discuss required return to school protocol.  Current Travel Policy.

As always, we appreciate your support as we work to keep our school community healthy and safe!

Thank you to 8th grade students Michael and Porter for hosting today’s school-wide Rosary (over the intercom). And, we love these cute writings/drawings of Mary from a few of Mrs. Gangloff’s Kindergarten students.

Soccer Update

As of right now, it looks like soccer practices for our school teams will begin sometime after April break.  The town of Manchester still has to inspect the fields and release them for us to use.

Coaches will be reaching out to parents once we have information to share.

Hats off to Reading Contest Winners

Congratulations to all our Kindergarten through 6th grade students for an awesome job of reading during the contest period!  Thank you to all the teachers and parents for their support in encouraging the students to participate.

The contest winners are:

Kindergarten (411 books read)

3rd Grade (238 books read)

4th Grade (262 books read)

In all, our Kindergarten through 6th grade students logged 1,653 books during the contest period!

Great job Sabers!  And a special thanks to Mrs. Tierney for inspiring our students to keep reading!

Dale Chihuly Inspired Art (5th Grade)

During their recent art classes, Saint James School 5th graders learned about American artist, Dale Chihuly, famous for his blown glass sculptures.  Students then made their own Chihuly-inspired works of art using paint sticks and paper towel rolls…

Lunch Calendar Change for Monday/Tuesday

Please note that the hot lunch offering for Monday and Tuesday are being switched – Monday will be Chicken Tenders and Tuesday will be Maple Glazed Pancakes.

Also, as a reminder, if your child is bringing lunch from home and just purchasing milk at lunchtime, that milk purchase is NOT covered under the (free hot lunch) grant through the town/state.  You will need to fund their lunch account for those purchases.  You can do this by sending in cash or a check (made out to Manchester Hot Lunch Program) in an envelope with the child’s name or by logging in to the EZSchoolPay system and paying it online.

Hats off to Reading Contest Reminder

Our Hats Off To Reading Contest for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade has now concluded (yesterday, March 31st was the last day to log books).  Please make sure that your student hands in their signed reading logs to Mrs. Tierney in the Library by this coming Monday, April 5th.  Remote learners should turn them in today. We look forward to sharing the results of the contest with you soon!

We also wanted to share this cute Spring “Book Garden” that our Kindergarten through 2nd grade students made in the breezeway during a recent Library class.

Remote Learner Pick-Up Today (Thursday)

Since there is no school tomorrow (Friday), the remote learner pick-up for this week will take place today – Thursday, April 1st – from 2:30 – 4:30pm outside the gymnasium doors.
