4th Grade STEM Club

A STEM Club session will be held after school on Tuesday, November 2 for students in 4th grade.  If your child would like to attend, please fill out the Permission Form below.  There are a limited number of spaces so students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

Attention Cross Country

Select SJS runners have been invited to compete in the conference championship meet at Illing Middle School tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon.  While our students won’t be able to formally “place” in this meet, it will serve as a training opportunity for students who will be competing in the Middle School Cross Country Championships at Wickham Park next Saturday (to help prepare them for running with a large group).

Participating runners, notified today by Coach O’Neill, should arrive at Illing Middle School for 3:00pm.  The girls’ race kicks off at 4:00pm and the boys race will follow immediately after.

For students that have been invited to compete in the Wickham meet on 11/6, there WILL be practice next Tuesday and Thursday.  Coach O’Neill would like to see if families can work out a carpool to get runners to Wickham Park after school.  Please reach out to her at sjoneill2@yahoo.com if you can help.

For runners whose season has concluded, we thank you for taking part in this great activity and representing our school!  Please wash and air dry uniforms before returning them to the school in a bag labeled with the runner’s name.

Congratulations SJS Cross Country

Congratulations to the Saint James Cross Country team on a strong performance at their meet yesterday versus Illing Middle School and East Hartford Middle School.  Our boys finished first out of the three teams, sweeping…

Important Notice

Yesterday afternoon we received word of two additional positive cases of Covid-19 among individuals in our school. Since it is clear this virus is still out there in our communities (in addition to a few others that are currently going around) paying attention to your children’s health and erring on the side of caution needs […]

Congrats SJS Cross Country & Remaining Schedule

Fall Fun

Today we spotted our Pre-K4 cuties having a leaf hunt (lots of different colors and shapes!) and Mrs. Gangloff’s Kindergartners using nature to draw self-portraits. This weather is perfect for being outside for some Fall Fun! Great job Sabers!

St. James Street Parking

If you park on St. James Street, PLEASE do not park within 25 feet of the stop sign and please be courteous as to how you park so that traffic can get through – i.e. only park on the left side of the street.  We received another compliant about parents parking on St. James Street and creating a safety issue for residents that use the street – particularly at the time of afternoon dismissal. If you can’t find a legal spot on a side street, please use the church lot which has plenty of room.

Thank you again for your support and attention to this.

Last Day to RSVP: SJS Trunk-or-Treat!

The Home & School Association invites all Saint James School families to join us for Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 2 – 3 pm in the School Parking Lot!  Please see this flyer for all the exciting details:  2021 Trunk or Treat

You can RSVP for the event here: https://forms.gle/YZVXtr4phszTfhqo7

We can’t wait to see everyone in their costumes for a fun afternoon!

The East Catholic Entrance Exam for current 8th grade students will be held on Saturday, October 30 and on Saturday, November 13.  The exam begins at 8:30am.  You can register your student to take the exam here: Entrance Exam Registration.

Important Notice

Today we were made aware of two additional positive cases of Covid-19 among individuals in our school community.  These new cases are completely unrelated to each other, and unrelated to the two cases from last week.  While it was inevitable that we would have some Covid cases in our school community, having several independent cases within a week of each other is a good reminder that this virus is still out there and impacting families.  We are extremely grateful to parents for continuing to conduct those important health assessments each day before school and erring on the side of caution when it comes to illness.  Please know those efforts are making a difference.

As is our policy, if your child was impacted due to a direct exposure and needs to quarantine, you have ALREADY received a personal phone call from Mrs. Zorger (Principal) or our school nurse, Mrs. Vignati to discuss the situation.  If your child was in a classroom with a positive case, you received a separate email notification from the school earlier today.  For all other families, please continue to be vigilant and reach out to either Mrs. Zorger or Mrs. Vignati with any questions.
