Discovering Catholic Schools in New England Week

This week Saint James School is joining our peers from across the region in celebrating the many benefits of Catholic education. Each day this week we will highlight here, and on our social media pages, one of the many pieces that we feel makes Saint James School an exceptional choice for today’s learners!   We love our Catholic school!

Day 4: Exceptional Curriculum

Saint James School offers students an accelerated, comprehensive, and traditionally-based curriculum in a safe, fun, and respectful environment.

Interwoven into daily lessons is an emphasis on strengthening our relationship with God, forming healthy relationships with peers, being a good role model, and cultivating leadership skills. Catholic school teachers and administration prioritize the success of every child entrusted to their care and work closely with families to help students reach their full potential.

And, while our philosophy at Saint James School is not to teach for the sake of a test – but to instead develop well-educated, compassionate, critical thinkers – our students consistently score well above their grade-level benchmark on standardized tests.

Day 3:  Community

Families seek out a Catholic school education for their children because they want the values taught at home to be witnessed and reinforced at school.  United by our shared beliefs and aspirations for the children entrusted into our care each day, we view our role as educators as an important vocation.  We work closely with the families we serve to strengthen students’ faith and confidence, providing a strong foundation throughout their formative years.

At Saint James School our community is rooted in a long-standing tradition of excellence, with many of our enrolled students being the second or third generation in their family to attend. Parents are actively involved in their child’s education and many families find wonderful, lasting friendships during their time with us.

Day 2:  Respect and Tradition

Through a focus on kindness and personal accountability, Saint James School offers a respectful learning environment where students can confidently ask questions, collaborate with peers, celebrate achievements, and learn from mistakes.  We value tradition in the way we teach our curriculum, run our classrooms, and celebrate our faith.  The result is a supportive and challenging climate where students enjoy coming to school and learning alongside their peers every day.

Travel Policy Updated

Saint James School has updated our travel policy for DOMESTIC Travel to the following:

If traveling outside of Connecticut but still within the United States, students no longer need to quarantine or provide a negative Covid test prior to returning to school.  Travel does not need to be reported to the school nurse UNLESS students will be absent from school.

The full policy can be found on our website:  https://saintjamesschool.net/travel/

Day 1: Incorporation of Faith, Values, Morals

The incorporation of faith, values, and morals into everyday lessons can help children to navigate the challenges of living in today’s complex world.  At Saint James School faith-based teachings and daily lessons instill a foundation for students to develop confidence, understand personal responsibility, appreciate our differences, and spread kindness to those around them. Our teachers and staff lead by example, practice their faith every day, and encourage students to be their best self in everything they do.
