Congrats SJS Cheer!
Congratulations to the SJS Cheer Team on an awesome performance at this weekend's cheer competition at East Shoreline Catholic Academy. Our girls won the big award for the day - the Spirit Stick - given to the team that shows the most spirit, enthusiasm and teamwork! Great job Sabers!!
Ski Club
We had a great first ski/snowboard club trip on Friday night with approximately 60 SJS students participating this year! Special thanks to all the parents that are assisting this year by hitting the slopes or hanging out in the lodge.
Chess Club
Our Winter Chess Club kicked off yesterday afternoon with lots of game-play and fun, strategy discussion with Mr. Aldi.

Santa Visit!
We had an extra special guest visit us at SJS today! Thank you to our 8th grade helpers for assisting Santa with distributing candy canes to all the classrooms!

Tree of Blessings Ceremony
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2022 Saint James School Tree of Blessings. This morning, immediately following our 4th week of Advent prayer service, members of the 8th grade class led the ceremony to honor and pray for the individuals listed on each ornament.
Christmas Concert

Christmas Store

Advent Wreath Prayer Service & Pre-K Blessings
This morning our kindergarten through 8th grade students celebrated the third week of Advent with a prayer service with Father Jaime. Thank you to 8th graders Lauren, Cora, and Layne for assisting with the readings. After the prayer service, Father Jaime visited (and sang Christmas songs!) with our Pre-K classes.
PJ Dress Down For CCMC
Thank you to everyone who participated in our $1.00+ PJ/Comfy Clothes dress down on Friday! Together we raised approximately $900 for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Great job Sabers! #sjs100actsofkindness
Varsity Basketball Home Opener
Varsity basketball home openers last night: The boys took home the win against St. Paul with both a strong offensive and defensive game. The girls also played a strong defensive game, but in the end came up short against St. Paul. We are looking forward to a great season!
Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass
Today our 1st - 8th grade students celebrated Mass with Father Jaime for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Forth grade student, Edward H., did a wonderful job with the readings and our middle school students - as always - were helpful buddies for their younger peers.
St. Nicholas' Feast Day
In keeping with tradition, our Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students left one shoe outside their classroom yesterday morning in celebration of St. Nicholas Day (Feast Day of St. Nicholas). More commonly observed in Northern Europe, St. Nicholas Day is celebrated by attending Mass and leaving a shoe by the fireplace, in which children later find a treat or gift (the origin of our American Christmas stockings).
Cards for Residential Facilities
As one of our #100ActsOfKindness, Saint James School Pre-K, Elementary, and Middle School students have been busy creating Christmas cards to distribute to several local residential facilities.
Grade 3 Reading Café
This morning, third grade students were surprised (and excited!) find their classrooms transformed into “Reading Cafés” – each with a roaring fireplace (on the viewboard), decorated tables, and their teacher dressed as a maître d’. This special lesson was to teach the 3rd graders about different genres of books and to encourage them to broaden their reading horizons.
