Varsity Basketball Home Opener

Varsity basketball home openers last night: The boys took home the win against St. Paul with both a strong offensive and defensive game.  The girls also played a strong defensive game, but in the end came up short against St. Paul. We are looking forward to a great season!

Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass

Today our 1st - 8th grade students celebrated Mass with Father Jaime for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  Forth grade student, Edward H., did a wonderful job with the readings and our middle school students - as always - were helpful buddies for their younger peers.

St. Nicholas' Feast Day

In keeping with tradition, our Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students left one shoe outside their classroom yesterday morning in celebration of St. Nicholas Day (Feast Day of St. Nicholas).  More commonly observed in Northern Europe, St. Nicholas Day is celebrated by attending Mass and leaving a shoe by the fireplace, in which children later find a treat or gift (the origin of our American Christmas stockings).

Cards for Residential Facilities

As one of our #100ActsOfKindness, Saint James School Pre-K, Elementary, and Middle School students have been busy creating Christmas cards to distribute to several local residential facilities.

Grade 3 Reading Café

This morning, third grade students were surprised (and excited!) find their  classrooms transformed into “Reading Cafés” – each with a roaring fireplace (on the viewboard), decorated tables, and their teacher dressed as a maître d’. This special lesson was to teach the 3rd graders about different genres of books and to encourage them to broaden their reading horizons.

Food Drive THANK YOU!

A huge Thank You to all of our Pre-K through Grade 8 families that supported this week's Thanksgiving Food Drive for MACC Charities!  The amount of food donated was exceptionally generous and will undoubtedly make a huge difference in our community this Thanksgiving!

Kindergarten Teamwork Building Challenge

Today for their STREAM class, kindergarten students had to work in teams to build a Thanksgiving table that was big enough and sturdy enough to hold all the food.  Here are a few pictures from Mrs. Gangloff's class.  Nice teamwork Sabers!

Congratulations Cross Country!

This past weekend select members of the Saint James School Cross Country Team participated in the Middle School State Championship meet at Wickham Park in Manchester.

Pre-K Election Day Fun

Today our Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 classes enjoyed some election-day voting fun to decide which book would be read during story time.  Here are some pictures of the cuteness!

Catholic Schools Excel During Pandemic

Thank you to the Wall Street Journal (Oct. 27, 2022) and The Nation’s Report Card for highlighting the success of Catholic schools, especially throughout the pandemic. “Today, the divergence between Catholic schools and the public ones is so great that if all U.S. Catholic schools were a state, their 1.6 million students would rank first in the nation across the NAEP reading and math tests for fourth and eighth graders.” To their point, check out the charts...

Trunk or Treat

We had such a great Trunk or Treat event on Saturday!  A huge Thank You Mr. & Mrs. Harris for hosting and to all the parents and 7th & 8th grade volunteers that helped make it such a great day for the kids!

Grandparents Day 2022

Thank you to all the grandparents and special guests that joined us today and to all our wonderful performers, including the Advanced Band.

Pre-K4 Fall Fun!

Lots of Fall Fun in Pre-K4 today!

Fifth Grade Story Quilts

Yesterday our 5th grade students presented their “Story Quilts” on a historical fiction book of their choosing.  The idea was to pick four symbols from the book to illustrate and explain why they were significant.
