NEAS&C Accreditation Visit Next Week

As part of our 10-year accreditation renewal with the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEAS&C), Saint James School will host the second and final visit from our accreditation team early next week, from October 19th through the 22nd.

Throughout this past week, we’ve been preparing our students for the presence of our special guests, who will be conducting observations at various times during the school day. In addition, the team will be interviewing members of our school community—including students—as part of their evaluation.

Parents may notice members of the visiting team shadowing Mrs. Zorger or Mrs. Mitchell during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up; All visitors will be wearing clearly marked badges throughout their time on our campus.

For our returning families, you may remember that last fall our faculty and staff began work on a comprehensive self-study, which included feedback from the September 2024 surveys of families, staff, and students. We hosted our first accreditation team in April for the Foundation Visit. This upcoming second visit—known as the Program Visit—provides the NEAS&C team an opportunity to further observe our daily operations, visit classrooms, and assess how well our programs reflect what we outlined in the self-study.

We would like to once again extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Jeannie Jones (Grade 4), with support from Mrs. Nunes (Grade 2, stepping in for Mrs. LaMarche), for leading Saint James School’s accreditation committee and continuing to guide our school through this extremely detailed process. We had an exceptionally positive visit last spring, and we are excited to once again showcase our wonderful school community to the NEAS&C team next week!

Reminder: Grandparents Day Celebration (Gr. K-5)

Saint James School is excited to celebrate and honor the Grandparents of our Kindergarten – 5th Grade students on October 24th! Please review all the details below and complete the RSVP form at the bottom by Friday, October 17th; Guest and dismissal information provided via the RSVP form will be shared with teachers.

Families with a student in Grades K – 5:   Please complete this RSVP & Important Info Form

**For lunch planning purposes, ALL K-5th Grade Families are asked to complete the RSVP form (even if you do not have a guest coming for your child)**

Guest Arrival
We will welcome all visitors with a special program in the Gym starting at 10:00am (Gym doors will be open at 9:45am).  After the program, visitors will be guided to the classrooms to enjoy a special activity with their grandchildren.  Please make sure visitor(s) know which teacher your child has.  Also, please keep in mind when determining who to invite that our school has multiple stair levels and no elevators.

Guest Guidelines
While grandparents are our intended special guests for this day, if your K – 5 child does not have a grandparent that is able to join us, a special guest (NOT an SJS parent) is welcome to attend in place of the grandparents.  With limited space in the classroom and the nature of the day, however, if one or more grandparents will be attending please do not invite other individuals as well.  Thank you for understanding.

Dismissal Info
October 24th is a 12:05pm dismissal day, however students may be dismissed with their grandparents when the classroom activities are complete (typically this is around 11:30am).  There is a place in the RSVP form below to note if your student will be staying until 12:05pm or being dismissed early on this day.  Older or younger siblings that are not in K – 5 may also be dismissed early on this day (please also provide this info in the form).

Lunch At School
Since we now serve lunch at school on early dismissal days, this one is a bit tricky since we will have so many guests in the classrooms during our lunch waves.  Therefore, if your child is leaving early with their grandparents (they will be done about 11:30ish), we will not plan for those students to have lunch at school that day.  Especially as grandparents and students will often go out to lunch after leaving SJS.

However, all students in middle school that are not being dismissed with a younger sibling at 11:30am will go to the cafeteria on this day.  Also, for any K-5 students that do not have a guest on this day OR are going to aftercare, hot lunch will be available. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns on this.

We are excited for this fun day!

3rd Grade STEM Club

There will be a session of STEM Club after school on Thursday, October 23.  If your child would like to attend, please complete and return the permission form.

Last Call: Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival

Our Home & School Association volunteers have been hard at work planning for this year’s Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival event for our Pre-K3 through Grade 8 families.  This year we are excited to host this event in the St. Bartholomew Church parking lot in conjunction with our sister school, Saint Bridget!

**Please consider decorating your trunk  —  The more the merrier!**

The event will be held on October 25th and will feature Trunk or Treat as well as games, crafts, a bounce house and lots of other fun activities!  The cost of the event is $20.00 per family unless you decorate a trunk/hand out candy, in which case there is no admission charge for your family to attend and enjoy the activities.  All families are asked to RSVP using the form below, then send cash payment to the SJS main office in a clearly labeled envelope by October 15th.

All details can be found in THIS RSVP FORM (<—click to open) and in the flyer below.  This is always a super fun event for our school families – we can’t wait to see you there!!

No School Monday

As a reminder, there is no school this coming Monday, October 13th for Columbus Day/Indigenous People’s Day.

Thank you!

A huge THANK YOU to our school social worker, Mrs. McAdams, our campus minister, Ms. Holmes, and the members of the Manchester Police Department for hosting such an informative and impactful presentation for our families last night.

The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, and we are truly grateful to everyone who took the time to join us and engage in learning more about this important topic affecting today’s youth.
