Shirt Colors for Tomorrow
As a reminder, tomorrow – Friday, May 24th, we are asking each grade of students to wear different color shirts (with gym shorts and sneakers) in honor of World Children’s Day. If you would like to read the original post, please Click This Link.
Please remember, standard SJS (shirt) dress down guidelines apply – No crop tops, sleeveless tops, political slogans, etc.
PreK & K: White shirts; 1st: Gym shirts (field trip); 8th: Red shirts; 2nd & 7th: Orange shirts; 3rd: Yellow shirts; 4th: Green shirts; 5th: Blue shirts; 6th: Purple shirts

There will also be a penny logo sale coming in early summer which is often a good cost savings when ordering uniform shirts. We will share that information when it is sent from our representative.
SJS 2024 Annual Fund Campaign
This week your student will be bringing home a letter from Mrs. Zorger (along with the Spring SJS Community Newsletter) kicking off our 2024 Annual Fund Campaign.
Donations to our Annual Fund Campaign have been instrumental in supporting important projects at our school that simply cannot be covered by tuition/standard fundraising. Annual Fund dollars, along with several generous bequests and grants, have helped us keep our school facilities in great condition with new windows, roofs and recently provided the funding for our new STREAM Innovation Lab.
This year, Annual Fund donations will once again be used to further enrich the faith-filled educational experience provided to our students, support our talented faculty, and respond to unforeseen needs and opportunities that may arise. Every gift makes a difference!

Gym Uniforms Tomorrow
Due to the classrooms being warm from the heat today, all students may wear their GYM uniforms (with sneakers) to school tomorrow (5/23).
Students may also wear their gym uniform shorts (with sneakers) on Friday with their designated color shirt.
Reminder – Art Show This Evening!
As a reminder, the Saint James School Art Show will be held on this evening (Monday, May 20th) from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.
All SJS families are invited to drop by anytime during open hours and enjoy many of the wonderful works of art done by our Pre-K through 8th Grade students this past school year.
Instrumental Music Notes
Please note that Grade 4 will have lessons and band on Tuesday and all other instrumental music students will have lessons on Wednesday this week.
Last Call: Spring Flower Fundraiser
Monday is the last day to purchase vouchers.
Saint James School has teamed up with Woodland Gardens for a spring flower fundraiser for our school!
Once you place your order, you will receive vouchers home with your child. Take your vouchers to Woodland Gardens and choose your plants.
If you do not receive your vouchers within a couple of days of placing your order or have questions, please contact HSA parent volunteer Jodi Talaga at jtalaga94@gmail.com.

World Children’s Day – Friday, May 24
Many months ago Pope Francis declared that the Catholic Church’s first World Children’s Day would take place on the 25th and 26th of May. Recognizing that children are the “hope of a people,” the Vatican is calling for celebration on two levels: in Rome, where Pope Francis will meet with children from around the world; and in our parishes/schools.
Recognizing that children are the key to our future and that simple acts of kindness and offerings of peace are stepping stones to a better tomorrow, Pope Francis explained that he chose the Bible passage, “Behold, I make all things new,” as the theme for World Children’s Day because it reminds us that in order to make the world a better place, people need to be united. We are also called to ponder, “What kind of world do we want to leave to the children who are growing up now?” It is a reminder that through the education and care of our youth, together we can help our children build a better tomorrow. Saint James School will Celebrate on Friday, May 24th with a special outdoor prayer ceremony. Additionally, we are asking students to wear the following color shirts (with their typical Friday uniform bottoms) on Friday, May 24th:
PreK & K- White shirts to represent Antarctica
1st Grade – gym shirt (field trip)
8th Grade: Red to represent Asia
2nd & 7th: Orange to represent North America
3rd: Yellow to represent Africa
4th: Green to represent Europe
5th: Blue to represent South America
6th: Purple to represent Oceania
