2017 Saint James School Gala: March 25, 2017

The annual SGalaimageaint James School Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year and a great adults-only event that brings together many different people from within the SJS community. At the Gala, attendees have the option to participate in the live and/or silent auctions and bid on items from class baskets to vacation getaways! There is dinner, dancing, and A LOT of fun.

There is a special Gala committee that holds meetings throughout the year.  There are many volunteer opportunities, big and small, to help make the Gala a success.  Some areas of need are marketing, collection of auction items, signage, decoration, set-up/clean-up, cashiers, and closers.  Every year, the gala committee is comprised of a great group of individuals who have a lot of fun and laughs – all while supporting their child(ren)’s school!

This year’s event chairs are Paul Munns and Tara Moriarty.  To volunteer or find out more information, please e-mail HSA@SaintJamesSchool.net.

Staff Changes for the 2016/2017 School Year

It is with heavy hearts that we will be saying goodbye to three exceptional teachers at the end of this school year. Third grade teacher Mrs. Camposeo, will be retiring in June after 28 years of teaching. First grade teacher Mrs. Cunningham has decided to pursue other endeavors closer to her hometown, and fourth grade teacher Mrs. Hogan will be spending time enjoying her first child, due this summer. While we are sad to say goodbye to these three staff members, we are excited for them and wish them all the best as they enter this next chapter of their lives.

Joining the Saint James School faculty next year will be three highly qualified teachers, chosen by select members of the staff and administration from a field of over 12 candidates:

Mrs. Jeanne Jones – Grade 4

Mrs. Jones brings to Saint James a wealth of experience from her 14 years in Catholic education – first at her alma mater, St. Thomas the Apostle School in West Hartford, and most recently at St. Augustine School in Hartford.  Mrs. Jones has a B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in History from Central Connecticut State University.  Mrs. Jones is a Communicant at Saint Brigid Church in West Hartford and served as a CCD instructor for 19 years.

Mrs. Patricia Moran – Grade 3

Mrs. Moran comes to us from the Glastonbury public school system where she is currently working with students who are new to the English language at the elementary, middle, and high school level.  In the past, Mrs. Moran spent numerous years as the Youth Minister for Saint Bridget Church in Manchester, in addition to serving as a preschool program teacher in Manchester.  Mrs. Moran holds a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Connecticut and a Masters of Reading from Central Connecticut State University.

Mrs. Christina Carpino – Grade 1

Mrs. Carpino is currently an elementary teacher at St. Augustine School in Hartford, where she has worked since 2011.  Prior to that, Mrs. Carpino planned and taught the preschool curriculum at a daycare center in Avon.  She holds a B.S. in elementary education from Central Connecticut State University and is actively engaged in her home parish of St. Ann.

We are excited to welcome all three of these new teachers to the Saint James School family.
