There will be a school Mass tomorrow Friday, November 1st at 9:15am in observance of All Saints’ Day. Our 1st – 8th grade students should wear their formal/winter uniform to school on Friday for Mass. As always, our SJS Parents/Grandparents are welcome to attend Mass with us (please sit in the back few rows of the pews).
Reminder: Winter Uniform Starts Tomorrow!
As a reminder, the Winter Uniform for K-8 students begins tomorrow, Friday, November 1st. This means students may no longer wear shorts to school, girls must wear navy tights or navy knee-high socks with their skorts, and Middle School boys must wear their SJS Uniform button-down shirt and a tie on non-gym days.
Reminder: Fundraiser Pick-up & Volunteers Needed
The Cherrydale Fundraiser delivery will take place on Wednesday, November 20 in the school gym. Volunteers are needed during the day (8am-1:30pm) to help with sorting orders and at dismissal (1:30pm-2:10pm) to help distribute orders. If you are able to volunteer for any part of that time, please email Kate Davis at 70greenbean@sbcglobal.net. Thank you!
More details will follow, but please note that if you have ordered frozen items, they will need to be picked up on November 20, as we do not have a way to store them.
Reminder: Your Help is Needed
Please read the following letter from Chris Healy, the Executive Director of the Connecticut Catholic Public Affairs Conference, a group that advocates for the rights of Catholic organizations in our state.
Friends,
We need your immediate help to convince a state agency to provide financial relief to all religious organizations that currently use natural gas for their facilities.
Due to the work of the Connecticut Catholic Conference and the Jewish Federation of Connecticut, the CT Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) has opened a hearing – or docket – to examine whether to offer a lower rate for natural gas services for religious institutions.
Currently, religious organizations are charged a “commercial” rate, which we feel does not reflect the use of our facilities. It is our hope to convince PURA officials to consider a less costly classification.
We view this positive development as an opportunity.
We are hoping that each parish will take the time to sign the letter linked below that will be forwarded to PURA to be part of the official record.
It will only take a few moments of your time, but it could result in a great benefit to our church, our parishes, and the work we collectively do to improve the quality of life in our state.
Please read and sign the letter linked here: https://forms.gle/bb9UyufXMwmwyznh9.
Thank you,
Christopher Healy
