Mask Policy for the SJS Campus

As you likely are aware, yesterday the governor lifted many of the remaining COVID-19-related restrictions as well as updating the mask mandate for people who are fully vaccinated.  He did note that masks will still be required in schools for the rest of the school year.  With these updates, we wanted to clarify that masks are still going to be required on our school campus (indoors and out) throughout the remainder of this school year.  At pick-up and drop-off, there tends to be a lot of people in a small area and, since we have had much success this year following our current protocol, we feel it is best to stay the course through June 15th.  We will be meeting with health experts this summer to evaluate our policies and procedures for the upcoming year.  No matter where your comfort level lies with regards to masks at this point, we truly are grateful that our SJS families have been so supportive for the benefit of the entire school community.

Saint James School Protocol

As a reminder, Saint James School does require that families and students wear masks while on our school property – including at arrival and dismissal.  Thank you for your adherence to our school policy to ensure we close out this year on a healthy note.

Prayer Books Coming Home Today

One of the publishing companies we use here at Saint James School, Loyola Press, sent us free Catholic Prayer books for our families (one per family).  The books will be coming home with students today.  Please enjoy this book with your children while looking for new prayers to teach or to reinforce the traditional, favorite prayers.

Drop-off & Pick-up Reminders

A few reminders about morning drop-off & afternoon pick-up:

Please be patient.  There is a lot of traffic at both times of day around our school.  After dropping off, please use your blinker and pay close attention when pulling back into traffic.  The safety of our students and parents is the absolute top priority.

Please obey the posted signs.  We know parking spots at pick-up are limited but the no-parking signs are posted for specific reasons.  If parking on Church street, please park away from the bus loading area (behind the entrance for Oak Place).

At morning arrival, if using the drop-and-go area please make sure your students are ready to exit the car quickly.

Please wait for our crossing guards to stop traffic before crossing the street and always cross at one of the two crosswalks.

As always, we appreciate your adherence to our school’s protocol and compliance with the traffic laws around our buildings.
