Book Fair Update

Saint James School would like to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who shopped at our Scholastic Book Fair this week!  Our gross sales were $9362.13 – up about $1,000 from last year.  And, with some extra donations, our Scholastic Dollars to use for new books for classrooms and library totals $4841.71!

Also, another huge THANK YOU goes to Mrs. Meyer for taking the lead on chairing the event, along with Mrs. Poth and Mrs. Mauldin.  Also thank you to the many other parents that came in to volunteer throughout the week.

Our teachers and staff are extremely grateful for all the support!

If you were unable to attend our Scholastic Book Fair (or simply want to get additional books for your child), you can visit our ONLINE Shopping link HERE. The online store is open to us through next Friday, September 28th.  Our school will still receive credit for your purchase and orders will be shipped for free and delivered to your child at SJS.
Lastly, congratulations to the 7th Grade class for winning the Book Fair dress down contest.  It was an extremely close race between the grades with 7th grade beating out 1st grade by just $1.75.  The teachers will announce to students directly when the dress down day will occur.

Pre-Kindergarten Openings

Welcome New Staff Members

Please join us in welcoming two new members to our staff!

Mrs. Alicia Poth
Mrs. Poth will be joining our part-time teaching staff to assist with 4th & 5th grade technology and middle school STREAM.  Mrs. Poth, who has a Kindergartener, 3rd grader, and 5th grader at SJS holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from Penn State College of Medicine.  Prior to taking some time off to raise her children, Mrs. Poth conducted laboratory research at UMASS Medical School as well as teaching college-level Biology for many years.  Most recently, Mrs. Poth has spent several years as President of our Home & School Association and volunteers in numerous facets of the school community.

Mrs. Tonya (Nia) Page-Richardson
Mrs. Page-Richardson will be joining our Pre-Kindergarten teaching team as a part-time teacher’s aide in the 3-year-old program.  A proud mother of a (newly enrolled) Saint James School 3rd grader, Mrs. Page-Richardson worked for many years in the NYC arts and cultural world before finding her true calling (and genuine love, she says) working as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher’s assistant at St. Mary Catholic School in Royal Oaks, Michigan where her daughter was a student.  The family relocated to the Glastonbury area this past summer when Mr. Richardson took over as department head for the Art and Art History program at UCONN.
