Thank You – Saturday Coverage

Thank you to all our parent and student volunteers who came out to help as we hosted numerous JV basketball games (teams from all over the Deanery) this past Saturday.  Also, special thanks to our cheerleaders for cheering and to Sammy the Saber for making a special appearance!  Congratulations to the SJS JV Boys on their hard-fought win against Corpus Christi.  Our JV girls also played strong on Saturday but ended up with a loss to St. Timothy.

Basketball

Cheered on by our newly formed cheerleading squad, the SJS boys varsity gold and girls varsity basketball teams both enjoyed strong wins at home over Southington Catholic last night. This brings the boys’ record for the season to 9 – 3 and the girls’ record to 8 – 0!  Both teams will play again tonight at St. Gabriel school in Windsor.  The girls play at 6:30pm, followed by the boys at 7:30pm.

Great job SABERS!!

Virtue of the Month Winners

As you may recall, each month Saint James K – 8 students are studying a different virtue as part of their religion classes.  Today during the Advent wreath lighting, Mrs. Zorger recognized two students from each homeroom (K-8) that were selected by their teachers for exhibiting the virtue of peace (peaceful demeanor or a peacemaker among their peers), our virtue for the past month.

Below is a picture of the students (who were present for our Advent wreath lighting this morning) who received the peace-maker award. Way to go SABERS!  The next virtue is LOVE.

3rd & 4th Book/Art Club

For yesterday’s Book & Art Club, students listened to A Charlie Brown Christmas on a record player (so the kids can see how we listened to music in the “olden” days), then they made Christmas tree decorations.  Special thanks to Mrs. Carpenter for sending along these cute pictures.
