Pre-K Open House on Saturday

This Saturday, February 2nd, Saint James School will be hosting a “Drop-In” Open House at our Pre-K facility between the hours of 10:00am – 12:00pm.  Please help us spread the word to any families you may know that may be interested.

Any current SJS families with a child that will be entering our Pre-K program next year are also welcome to attend.

Please note, we are expanding our Pre-K 3-year-old program beginning next year by adding a 5-day morning class and a 5-day full-day (8am – 2pm) class.  Space for these additional pre-k3 programs is very limited and first preference will be given to current SJS families based on first-come basis (with completed 2019-2020 paperwork). Students must be fully potty trained (even through nap time) to attend our Pre-K3 and 4 programs.

JV Boys Visit CCSU

Last night, our JV boys (6th grade) basketball team was the halftime entertainment at the CCSU women’s game – playing a short scrimmage in front of a crowd of cheering CCSU fans. Our kids loved the experience – with some even winning prizes in shooting contests held between quarters.

Special thanks to our JV Coach – Eric Kincheloe – for setting up this amazing opportunity for his team and for sending us the pictures below.

Prospective Family Open House Tomorrow

Tomorrow (Tuesday 1/29), SJS will host an Open House for prospective families looking at our Kindergarten through 8th Grade program for the 2019-2020 school year.  The Open House event will begin at 8:30am.  Please encourage any families and friends looking at education choices for their children to attend.  Online registration for any of our upcoming Open House Events can be completed HERE.

Book Buddies

On Friday during Book Buddies, first and forth graders worked together to make a poster for Catholic Schools Week. With the help of the first graders, forth graders wrote about the reason St. James School is so special. The first graders made some fabulous art work to go with the writing samples. These posters are hanging outside the first and forth grade classrooms. Book Buddies is a special time when students can interact with older students in their school community. It’s one of the many traditions that makes St. James School so special!  Special thanks to Mrs. Alexander for these cute pictures!

Stock Market Club

Only a few spots left!!

Saint James School has decided to participate in The SIFMA Foundation’s acclaimed Stock Market Game.  This program is an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages students in grades 6-12 in the world of economics, investing and personal finance.  SJS will be participating in the next contest which runs from Feb 4th through April 12th.  We are fortunate that 2 of our school parents who are accredited in financial services have volunteered to coach the students through this inaugural participation.  Due to the hands on nature of the game, we will need to limit the number of participants to the first 20 students (open to students in Grades 6 – 8 only) who have returned the attached paperwork and $10 club fee.  The Investment Club will meet on Tues 1/29 from after school until 4pm and then on subsequent Tuesday’s from after school until 3:30pm.  Additional information about this program is available at www.stockmarketgame.org.
