Radio Testimonials

Yesterday, a couple of our parents and students traveled to Prospect, Connecticut to record commercials/testimonials on behalf of Saint James School for the Archdiocese of Hartford’s radio station WJMJ. Many thanks to Stefan Poth (5th grade) and Elinor Poth (3rd grade), Hayley Gionfriddo (3rd grade), and Brendan Guenther (7th grade) for volunteering to write & record testimonials for our school.  All recorded spots will play on WJMJ (88.9 FM – Hartford; 93.1 FM – Hamden; 107.1 FM – New Haven; 91.1 Fairfield) during the last week of January – which is Catholic Schools Week.

All the commercials/testimonials were written by the students themselves and it was so heartwarming to hear their sweet messages. A huge thank you to these parents and students for their time and commitment to our school! We hope to have copies of the finished products to share once they are edited, but here are a few pictures.

Box Tops Due Tomorrow

Box tops for the third dress down contest of the school year will be counted after school tomorrow – Tuesday, January 8th. Please be sure to send in any box tops you have accumulated by 2:00pm on January 8th to help your child’s grade win! (please label name and grade on the container or baggie you send them in).

Box tops make a huge impact:  This school year-to-date, we have submitted $841.40 worth of box tops, and we recently received a check for $1,394.40 from Box Tops for Education (which covers our school’s year-to-date submissions, plus what we submitted in the the later half of last school year).

Since we started participating in the box tops program (many years ago) our school has made a total of $25,396!

Reminder: SJS Inclement Weather Policy

As a reminder – new this year – Manchester no longer has 90-minute delays. We will now have two-hour delays or, in rare cases, a three-hour delay:  2018-2019 SJS Inclement Weather Policy

Also, Saint James School follows the “Manchester Public Schools” for delays and closures.  If you have not already done so, please click HERE to sign up for alerts from NBC30 and/or HERE to sign up for alerts from WFSB Channel 3.

Please also sign up for notifications from Saint James School – Manchester CT in case there is ever a need for just our school to be closed.

Thank You – Saturday Coverage

Thank you to all our parent and student volunteers who came out to help as we hosted numerous JV basketball games (teams from all over the Deanery) this past Saturday.  Also, special thanks to our cheerleaders for cheering and to Sammy the Saber for making a special appearance!  Congratulations to the SJS JV Boys on their hard-fought win against Corpus Christi.  Our JV girls also played strong on Saturday but ended up with a loss to St. Timothy.

Basketball

Cheered on by our newly formed cheerleading squad, the SJS boys varsity gold and girls varsity basketball teams both enjoyed strong wins at home over Southington Catholic last night. This brings the boys’ record for the season to 9 – 3 and the girls’ record to 8 – 0!  Both teams will play again tonight at St. Gabriel school in Windsor.  The girls play at 6:30pm, followed by the boys at 7:30pm.

Great job SABERS!!
