Congratulations to all of our 7th Grade Students on an excellent job at the science fair yesterday.   There were so many unique and creative ideas!  Students did an excellent job presenting their findings to the younger and older grades as well as the many judges, parents, grandparents, and staff in attendance.  Special thanks to SJS Science Teacher Mrs. Plante for putting this together, and to the many parents who came in to judge the competition.  The winners were:

1st Place:   Izabella Ray and Maeve Williams with “Dancing Oobleck”;  2nd Place:  Alexander Setzler and Christopher Constantine with their project on Reflective Light;  3rd Place: Ethan Canna with his project on Cleaning Coins.  Honorable Mentions went to Alec Bairos and Asrar Hossain; Max Lambert and Kate Leyden; and Nathan Kincheloe  & Anna DeLaura.  (Please click pictures to enlarge).

                                                 

This past Saturday The Knights of Columbus held their annual free throw contest at Saint James School.  Saint James School students Alexis Jablonecki, Isabella Jablonecki, and Abhinav Perugu all advanced to the District finals where each contestant took a total of 25 free throws.  Alexis won the District final by making 21 out of 25 free throws.  She will now advance to the Regional finals which will be held on March 6th in East Hartford, CT.   Great job Sabers!  Special thanks to the Knights of Columbus for hosting this fun, annual event.

Instrumental music lessons and band for grades 6 – 8 will be held on TUESDAY (February 2nd) this week instead of Friday.  All students need to remember to bring their lesson book to class each week.

Congratulations to the Saint James School Boys Varsity Gold basketball team for beating out St. Mary’s in Simsbury this weekend to secure a spot in the 2016 state championships.  In addition, the boys played in the St. Rita’s tournament over the weekend and won all of their games.  They now advance to the next round this coming weekend.  Way to go Sabers!

On Friday, Kindergarten through Grade 8 students celebrated Saint James School during the annual Blue & Gold Pep Rally.  Students enjoyed fun relay games – hosted by the Student Council -then watched as the boys Varsity Basketball team played the Girls Varsity Basketball team.  And, the highlight of the afternoon – the teachers vs. 8th graders basketball game!  Click pictures to enlarge.
