Our new “Girls Who Code” club for SJS 5th grade girls meets every Friday at lunchtime in the Innovation Lab. Under the guidance of STREAM teacher Mrs. Poth, the group works on a set curriculum designed to elevate coding skills, build camaraderie, and educate about careers in technology.
On Friday afternoon, 1st and 2nd graders joined Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Rafferty for a fun Book & Art Club. The group read, “There’s a Monster In Your Book,” then created their own colorful and silly monsters to bring home.
On Friday our Pre-K3, Pre-K4, and Kindergarten – Grade 3 students met some real-life heroes while enjoying a presentation and hands-on fun with the Manchester Fire Department.
Yesterday SJS 1st graders enjoyed a fun and informative “behind-the-scenes” tour of Saint James Church with Father Jaime. We love this special tradition for our 1st grade students!

This morning our 3rd – 5th grade students enjoyed a short, fun-filled assembly about energy efficiency put on by the National Theatre for Children and sponsored by Eversource.
Tonight – Tuesday, October 11th – all SJS families and friends are invited to enjoy dinner at Randy’s Wooster Street Pizza (in the plaza by BJs in Manchester) in support of SJS! Twenty percent (20%) of all sales (dine-in and take-out) from 5pm – 9pm will be donated back to SJS! Please encourage your family and friends to come out to support this wonderful local business and support our school at the same time. No flyer is needed just stop by and enjoy your meal!
Congratulations to our Cross Country team on a strong performance at the Wickham Park Invitational this past weekend. Our students competed against other middle school teams from across the state.
Today classes learned about St. Francis of Assisi in honor of his Feast Day (October 4th). Pre-Kindergarten students also enjoyed a blessing of the (stuffed) animals with Deacon Bill from St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish.
