Results from Wednesday’s XC Meet

The SJS Cross Country team competed in a tri-meet against Sage Park and Timothy Edwards in South Windsor this past Wednesday.  SJS 6th grader Abby Ray won the competition with Kaitlyn Nyberg, also in 6th grade, taking 3rd.  Isabelle Burke, Lindsay O’Neill, and Ally Ansaldi were 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively, helping the Saint James School take home another first place finish at this meet.

For the boys, AJ Bushnell led the team in the two mile race with Dominic Cavallo, Kevin Leger, Jack Green, and Ryan St. Jean rounding out the top 5 spots for Saint James.

The team has the weekend off.  The next and final weekday meet will be next Thursday at St. Timothy in Bloomfield.  The final meet of the season will be the CT State Meet held at Wickham Park on Saturday, November 5th.

 

Trunk or Treat Information

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for Trunk or Treat.  If you did not RSVP but would like to attend, please send an email to Alicia at aliciapoth@gmail.com.

We are planning on running the event “rain or shine” and we will use the school gym for the festivities if needed.

Please remember to wear your costumes, and bring along $5 cash, candy for 130 children, and any decorations for your trunk or table.  We are looking forward to a fun afternoon!

Grandparents' & Special Persons' Day at SJS

A huge thank you to all our guests who visited Saint James School during Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ day yesterday.  After a short performance by the band and various classes, guests visited in the classrooms with their SJS student(s) and participated in fun activities.  Below are some pictures we took throughout the morning (click pictures to enlarge).

Regular Uniforms Tomorrow

There will be no gym class tomorrow due to Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ day.  All students who typically have gym on Thursdays should wear their regular (warm weather) school uniform.

SJS 2016 State of the School Presentation

Please join us this evening (Wednesday, October 19th) at 6:30pm in the school gym as Saint James School presents our 2016 State of the School Address. During this annual, informational meeting we will be discussing our school’s performance in critical areas such as enrollment, finances, and standardized testing as well as current major initiatives and more.  We encourage all SJS parents to come be part of this informative evening.

Instrumental Music Notice

The Advanced band will perform tomorrow, Thursday October 20th, for Grandparents Day.  Students who normally take lessons and band on Thursday in grades 4 and 5 will receive lesson on Friday October 21st.

McGee Invitational Results

Congratulations to Coach O’Neill and her SJS XC runners on another stellar performance at the McGee Invitational this past Saturday.  Each race was broken down by gender and grade, with more than 100 runners per race competing.  Top performers in their respective events were as follows:

6th grade: Abby Ray and Kaitlyn Nyberg received trophies for placing 3rd and 5th respectively.  Ben Creamer took home a medal for placing 19th (medals were awarded to the top 20 finishers).

7th grade:  Lindsay O’Neill also had a great race winning a trophy for her 3rd place performance.  AJ Bushnell took home a medal for an 18th place finish.

8th grade:  Isabelle Burke brought home a medal, placing 19th.  Kyle Pelletier placed 13th, earning a medal.

The team’s next race is tomorrow – Wednesday – at Timothy Edwards Middle School in South Windsor.  Good luck Sabers!
