HSA GIVES would like to kick of the holiday season at The Village at Buckland Court with “Cookies & Cards!” The students will be making holiday cards for the residents during art class, and we are looking for volunteers to make some cookies!
We invite you to join us at The Village (432 Buckland Rd, South Windsor) at 5pm on Saturday, December 10, to pass out these fantastic treats. You can stay for as long as your schedule allows and help brighten the day of some wonderful people!
Please let us know if you would like to bake and/or join us to deliver the cookies. If you are able to make cookies, you can drop them off in the school library on Thursday, December 8. Contact Kerry Caldwell at kmcaldwell@gmail.com with any questions.

Just a reminder that tonight – Wednesday, December 7th – is the annual Saint James School Christmas Concert featuring the Saint James School bands as well as performances by our 1st and 4th grade students.
The evening concert will begin at 6:30pm and is for parents and friends of the school.
Performer Arrival Times & Attire
Band:
Band students should arrive at the school cafeteria between 6:00pm-6:15pm (parents who volunteered to help dress should arrive a bit earlier). Evening concert attire for band students is a white shirt and black dress pants (or black skirt for girls – skirts must be knee length or longer). Red bow ties and cummerbunds will be given to the students to wear when they arrive.
4th Grade:
All 4th grade students should arrive at 6:00pm-6:15pm and report to the cafeteria; Attire for the evening performance is according to the notice sent home by Mrs. Archangeli. At the end of the concert, 4th grade students should be picked up by their parents in the cafeteria.
1st Grade:
All 1st grade students should arrive at 6:15pm and report to the cafeteria. Attire for the evening performance is according to the notice sent home by Mrs. Archangeli. At the end of the concert, 1st grade students should be picked up by their parents in the cafeteria.
The SJS Varsity Girls and SJS Varsity Blue Boys teams play at Saint James School this evening at 6:00pm and 7:00pm respectively. If your schedule permits, please come out and cheer on our school!
All bands will rehearse on Tuesday, Dec 6th, starting with the Regional Band students at 7:30 AM. The Christmas Concert is Wednesday Dec 7th at 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM. Students will wear their school uniforms for the daytime concert. The Saint James Boys teams were on a roll over the past few days as all four Boys JV and Varsity teams posted wins this past week.
SJS JV Blue notched its first win of the season over St. Chris in a Double Overtime thriller Saturday in West Hartford. Abi P. stole the show for Coach Huyler’s Boys with two free throws with no time on clock to force a second OT than he hit a dramatic 3 pointer from top of the key for the game winner being mobbed by his team mates after!!
SJS JV Gold rolled to an impressive win over l previously unbeaten St Thomas the Apostle with a stellar team defensive effort holding them to just 10 points going on to a 30 to 10 victory. SJS JV Gold remains undefeated at 3-0!
SJS Varsity Blue came from behind to beat St Chris in a nail bitter 35 to 34 at St Chris in E Hartford. This team had been in several close games this year and stuck together to notch their first win.
SJS Varsity Gold had a solid team effort to beat St Bridget’s at their gym Thursday evening 32 to 17. Dom C. led the team in scoring and Chris P. showed tremendous toughness winning the battle of the backboard.
The 4th and 5th Grade Saturday Development league opened its season this weekend. Kids were excited to get on the court and two great games were enjoyed by players parents and friends in attendance. St James White (Carroll) won both games in the season opener. 14 to 8 victory in the first game over St James Black (Chomick) Then hung on to beat St James Navy (Kincheloe) in the back end of the double header 11 to 10. All 3 teams back on the court at SJS this coming Saturday at 9:30 am and 10 :30. Come cheer these kids on Saturday morning!
Afternoon pickup will be at the side parking lot (by the Pre-K) today as the Gym is set up for the Drama production tonight.

This past weekend, Saint James School 6th grade students entered the beautiful Polish Nativity Castles (“Szopka”) they have been working on for their religion studies into the annual Szopka competition sponsored by the Polish Cultural Club in Hartford. Students, with much guidance from middle school teacher Ms. Carol Oleasz, put a lot of time and effort into making these beautiful palaces depicting the Holy Family and Baby Jesus.
We are excited to announce that Saint James students won first, second, and third place as well as four honorable mentions! The winners are as follows (click pictures to enlarge):
