Spirit Sticks at Meet the Teachers Night

The HSA is selling Spirit Sticks again this year.  Spirit Sticks are a fun way for students to express themselves and decorate their backpacks.  Start with the Saint James School/Sabers Key Ring (front and back shown below):  The Key Rings are $5 each and with this purchase you receive your first spirit stick FREE.  Then, purchase additional spirit sticks for $1/each to enhance your collection.

Please see the image below showing the sticks that are currently available (click picture to enlarge).

The HSA will be selling spirit sticks in the gym TONIGHT (9/19) during Meet the Teachers Night.

Throughout the school year, you can also purchase spirit sticks (and/or the SJS key chain) by kindly filling out the Spirit Sticks Order Form and returning it with EXACT CASH ONLY through your child’s school folder in an envelope marked “Spirit Stick Order, For Kerry Caldwell, c/o Taylor.”  Orders will be distributed to the teachers and sent home with your child.  If you have any questions, please contact SJS parent volunteer Kerry Caldwell at kmcaldwell@gmail.com.

Upcoming VIRTUS Training (Required for SJS Volunteers)

In order to volunteer at Saint James School, volunteers are required to have a background check and attend a VIRTUS Training Session (you only need to do this one time, not every year).

If you plan to volunteer at Saint James at any point (including signing up to be a lunch helper, room parent, or field trip chaperone), please note that there are several upcoming VIRTUS sessions scheduled including September 20th (6:30pm) at East Catholic High School in Manchester, and September 28th (6:30pm) at Saint James Church.

To participate in a VIRTUS session, you must Pre-Register on the VIRTUS Site.  To access the schedule of upcoming sessions and register to attend one, click here and select Hartford, CT (Archdiocese).

Thank you for your support in helping make Saint James School a wonderful, safe place for our children!

Box Tops Counted Tomorrow

Box tops for the first dress down contest of the new school year will be counted on September 13th.  Please be sure to send in any box tops you accumulated over the summer by September 13th to help your child’s grade win!

Each year, Saint James School asks parents to clip “Box Tops for Education” and send them into the school. Each Box Top you clip earns 10₡ for Saint James. Last year, our school earned over $1,800 from Box Tops alone!

Each month, the GRADE that brings in the most Box Tops will win a free dress down day (date determined by the teachers).
To count for the September Box Tops dress down contest, Box Tops need to be submitted to your child’s teacher by 2:00pm on the counting date.

To learn more about Box Tops, visit the Box Tops For Education Website or contact Saint James School parent volunteer coordinator Mary Beth Dufresne at marybethdufresne@cox.net.

By creating a free account on the Box Tops For Education website (http://www.boxtops4education.com/), you will also be able to enter contests and give-a-ways for additional free Box Tops for our school.

As always, we appreciate your support of Saint James School!
