Sign-up Sheets for Fall parent-teacher conferences (11/8 & 11/9) will be available in the hallway outside the Main Office this afternoon, Wednesday, & Thursday. Please be sure to stop in at your convenience to sign up for a time.
On Friday afternoon, 3rd grade students worked on another fun lab during their Science period: making and observing Oobleck. Oobleck is a “non-Newtonian fluid” – meaning a substance that can be a solid or a liquid depending on how much force is applied.
Breaking into small groups, students had to create a “hypothesis” and answer questions about what happened to the Oobleck under various conditions.
Here are a few pictures of the students enjoying getting messy with this hands-on project, which had them thinking about if Oobleck behaves like a solid or a liquid, or both! (Click pictures to enlarge).
In keeping with the fun spirit of Halloween, students may pay $1.00 to come to school in dress down attire tomorrow (Tuesday, October 31st). Dress down attire should be black, orange, and/or purple. NO masks, costumes (except K and Pre-K), painted faces, or colored hair.
Money collected will be donated to Purple Heart Homes, a non-profit organization which helps provides housing solutions for Military Veterans who have been disabled as a result of their service to our country. The Co-Founder of Purple Heart Homes, Dale Beatty (who was wounded while serving in Iraq), came to speak to our students a few years ago.

A huge thank you to everyone that voted for our SJS Scarecrow – we took 1st place in the People’s Choice awards and 2nd place in the Facebook Favorites Competition! Again, special thanks to parent volunteer Mrs. Piotrowski for organizing this for our school and to the other volunteers (parents and students) who helped design and create the scarecrow! We have the BEST community at Saint James School!
Due to school being closed today, a new date for picture retakes will be announced.
Are you looking for a fun AND rewarding activity to do as a family?? Then please join HSA GIVES in raising money and awareness for pediatric cancer. We will be participating in Jamie’s Run on Sunday, November 5th and would love for all of you to join the team!
Registrants are able to run in the 5K, walk in the 3K Charity Walk, or kids (12 and under) can run in the Kids Fun Run. There are also awards and prizes given to the top finishers in several categories.
