November Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-Ups

Sign-up Sheets for Fall parent-teacher conferences (11/8 & 11/9) will be available in the hallway outside the Main Office this afternoon, Wednesday, & Thursday.  Please be sure to stop in at your convenience to sign up for a time.

3rd Grade Science

On Friday afternoon, 3rd grade students worked on another fun lab during their Science period: making and observing Oobleck.  Oobleck is a “non-Newtonian fluid” – meaning a substance that can be a solid or a liquid depending on how much force is applied.

Breaking into small groups, students had to create a “hypothesis” and answer questions about what happened to the Oobleck under various conditions.

Here are a few pictures of the students enjoying getting messy with this hands-on project, which had them thinking about if Oobleck behaves like a solid or a liquid, or both! (Click pictures to enlarge).

$1.00 Halloween Dress Down Tomorrow

In keeping with the fun spirit of Halloween, students may pay $1.00 to come to school in dress down attire tomorrow (Tuesday, October 31st). Dress down attire should be black, orange, and/or purple. NO masks, costumes (except K and Pre-K), painted faces, or colored hair.

Money collected will be donated to Purple Heart Homes, a non-profit organization which helps provides housing solutions for Military Veterans who have been disabled as a result of their service to our country.  The Co-Founder of Purple Heart Homes, Dale Beatty (who was wounded while serving in Iraq), came to speak to our students a few years ago.
