5th Grade Famous Person Reports

Last week SJS 5th graders handed in the final copy of their research report on a famous person along with conducting an oral presentation (in character) to their classmates.  After each presentation, audience members were able to pose questions.  Awesome job Sabers!!

Celebrating Read Across America

Today we celebrated Read Across America with special reading activities and a story-book character dress-up day for student in grades K-4.

Grade 4 Presidents Reports

Today our 4th graders completed their project on an assigned U.S. President, giving an oral presentation to their classmates along with a Google Slides presentation.  Adding to the fun was the “Secret Service detail” announcing each President’s arrival in the morning and escorting the 4th graders around throughout the school day.

Ash Wednesday

This morning SJS K-8 students observed Ash Wednesday with a special prayer service in the school gymnasium. Special thanks to Father Jaime and our wonderful 6th grade readers for leading us in prayer.

Varsity Basketball Teams Play at ECHS

Another fun night for our varsity basketball teams on Thursday evening as our Sabers played sister school Saint Bridget at East Catholic High School.

Basketball “Senior” Night

We had a fun night celebrating our 8th grade varsity basketball players last night during our annual “senior night” games.  Both the boys and girls teams brought home a win last night versus St. John Paul II of Middletown. 

Interactive African Drum & Dance Performance

This morning our Pre-K3 through Grade 8 students enjoyed a fun, interactive African drum and dance performance with our own Mr. Carter (known professionally as Brother Al) and his friend, dancer Patricia Grant.

Congratulations Hand Writing Winners!

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Saint James School Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Contest (for Kindergarten – 5th grade). The 1st place winners will now be submitted to the State level:

Owl Pellets

SJS 3rd graders have been learning about small animals and habitats as part of their science lessons.  Today students dissected (sanitized) owl “pellets,” as part of their lessons on owls and what they eat.  Third graders are also currently working on their small animal research reports.

Pre-K4 Big School Fun

Today our Pre-K4 students had a blast playing in the “big school” gymnasium!  While they were at the K-8 school, our 4-year-olds also enjoyed a special story-time in the “big school” library with Mrs. Tierney.
