Another afternoon of smiles and fun at the November Book & Art Club. The group listened to Mrs. Carpenter read a book about the first Thanksgiving, followed by making their own Mayflower Ship & Cornucopia with Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Sabatella (click images to enlarge).

Two of our Saint James School moms (both of whom work as professional photographers) will be conducting photography sessions for Christmas Card Pictures on Sunday, November 19th from 12pm-5pm in the Saint James Church basement. You will receive all images digitally to use for Christmas cards, etc. and 100% of the session fee will go directly to Saint James School! Please see the attached flyer for more details and registration info.

All families signed up for the Christmas photo shoot will have their name entered into a drawing for the candy cane centerpiece below (flowers included). The drawing will take place prior to the start of the shoot so when the winning family comes in for their session, they can leave with the centerpiece.
This morning we hosted a member of the local police department to discuss internet safety with our middle school students. A hard copy of the attached letter and internet safety contract are coming home with (middle school) students today. We hope you will utilize the contract as another opportunity to talk to your children about internet safety and social media utilization.
Basketball spirit wear items have been distributed and are coming home with students today.
As a reminder, December 8th is a 12:05pm dismissal day and there is NO AFTERCARE that day. All students must be picked up at 12:05pm that day.
It’s time to get into the holiday spirit! This holiday season, the HSA is running a wreath sale. Enjoy beautiful, locally made Balsam Christmas wreaths, and support Saint James School. Please consider purchasing wreaths through our fundraiser; see the flyer and order form (click here). Wreaths are available in 3 “ring” sizes. Choose from plain, with a bow, or a fully decorated wreath. Once your order is placed, you will receive your redeemable coupon(s), sent home with your child. Then, you can pick up your wreaths as early as November 20th. The earlier you place your order, the sooner you will receive your coupons! Orders must be placed no later than December 15th. Please join us this Tonight, Tuesday, November 14th at 6:30pm in the school gym as Saint James School presents our 2017 State of the School Address. During this annual, informational meeting we will be discussing our school’s performance in critical areas such as enrollment, finances, and standardized testing as well as current major initiatives and more. We encourage all SJS parents to come be part of this informative evening.
This morning your child received their school-issued Chromebook. Each Chromebook has a specific serial number assigned to your child.
Students had a short amount of time this morning to log into their computer; some may also opt to bring them home today to begin familiarizing themselves with how to navigate the various programs.
We ask that all 6th grade parents take some time this evening to speak with your child about the conduct agreement that they (and you – as their parent/guardian) signed at the beginning of the school year. We also suggest another review of the Chromebook rules we discussed at the parent meeting (i.e. Chromebooks must come to school charged each day, be cared for appropriately at home, used for school-related purposes only, etc.).
Similarly, if you have not already done so, you should remind your child that teachers, administration, and other faculty members will be monitoring their Chromebook activity (both in and out of school) and will receive alerts if a student tries to utilize this school-issued tool in a manner inconsistent with our policies. Please know, there will be serious consequences for students who chose not to comply with the agreed-upon technology rules.
