7th & 8th Boys Basketball – Open Gym Tonight

Saint James School will be hosting an Open Gym this evening from 6:00pm – 8:00pm for 7th & 8th grade boys who are FULLY-REGISTERED to play basketball this year.  If your student did NOT have their health form with doctor’s signature (in addition to registration form, character contract, and appropriate fees) into the office by dismissal today, they cannot participate in tonight’s Open Gym.

Reminder: Our Lady of Fatima Statue Tomorrow

In honor of the 105th anniversary of the Mother of God appearing to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima is currently on tour throughout the United States.  Hundreds of favors and graces, including cures and conversions, are associated with the image.

This Holy statue will be on display at St. James Church on Friday, November 4th from 8:00am – 8:30pm.  All families are invited to come hear the story of Fatima and experience the presence of Our Lady. The initial procession with the statue will take place at 8:00am.  At 6:30pm the statue’s custodian will give a special lecture for the parish community.

We are excited to share that Saint James School’s 5th – 8th grade students will also take part in this special day from 10:00am – 11:00am. Several students will be chosen to process in and place roses in a vase at the statue’s feet. Immediately following, the statue’s custodian will give a short lecture for students and others in attendance. The hour will conclude with everyone praying the Rosary.

Catholic Schools Excel During Pandemic

Thank you to the Wall Street Journal (Oct. 27, 2022) and The Nation’s Report Card for highlighting the success of Catholic schools, especially throughout the pandemic. “Today, the divergence between Catholic schools and the public ones is so great that if all U.S. Catholic schools were a state, their 1.6 million students would rank first in the nation across the NAEP reading and math tests for fourth and eighth graders.” To their point, check out the charts…

Winter Uniform Begins Tomorrow (Tuesday 11/1)

As a reminder, the Winter Uniform for K-8 students begins Tuesday, November 1st. This means students may no longer wear shorts to school, girls must wear navy tights or navy knee-high socks with their skorts, and Middle School boys must wear their SJS Uniform button-down shirt and a tie on non-gym days.
