On Thursday, October 31st, students and staff are invited to dress down for a $1.00+ donation, which the school will collect and donate to The Wounded Warrior Project. Donations should come to school with students on October 31st and be given to the homeroom teacher.
Attire must be Halloween-themed and/or include the colors of orange, black, or purple.
Please keep in mind that standard dress down guidelines per page 11 of the handbook apply (which includes no ripped jeans, no sleeveless shirts/tank tops, no crop tops, leggings must be paired with a long shirt/sweatshirt, etc.).
Also, as this is the last day of the Fall/Spring uniform, shorts ARE still permitted to be worn on this day.
In keeping with tradition, Pre-K and Kindergarten students will participate in a costume parade at school on this day (parents of our youngest Sabers should be on the lookout for an email from the teachers regarding this).
Winter Uniform Begins Monday
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolNovember 4th begins Winter Uniform for our K-8 students. This means students may no longer wear shorts to school, girls must wear navy tights or navy knee-high socks with their skorts, and Middle School boys (Gr. 6-8) must wear their SJS Uniform button-down shirt and a tie on non-gym days (the tie does not have to be any specific pattern and bow ties are acceptable).
White socks may now only be worn on gym days.
Catholic Education Family Guide
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolToday students in grades K – 8 will be bringing home an informational booklet from the publisher of our religion curriculum (Loyola Press). The booklet gives a really nice overview of spiritual development by grade and talks about how parents can help play a role in their child’s spiritual growth. We hope you will take a few moments to review the booklet this weekend and use some of the information as conversation starters at the dinner table.

For participating families, please remember that runners must be at Wickham Park by 8:45am for check-in and course walk through. The girls will race at 10:30am and boys at 11:00am – feel free to come out and cheer for our runners. Good luck Sabers!
Last Call: Veterans Day Celebration

If you, or any member of your family, have served/are serving in the armed forces, we hope you/they will attend. We will have music, presentations from classes, and light refreshments. All honored guests should feel free to wear their military uniform if they wish.

Summer Uniform Extended Through Friday
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolDue to the unusually warm temperatures forecasted for this Friday, November 1st, we are extending the summer uniform for one additional day. Winter uniform will now start on Monday, November 4th.
Please remember, we will be attending Mass on Friday, so all 1st-8th grade students should be in their regular (non-gym) uniforms on Friday. Students that normally have gym on Fridays may wear sneakers with their regular uniform.

/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolRetakes for individual portraits will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30th. This will be for:
*Any student for which you were not satisfied with the original portrait (be sure to send the original pictures back to school with them on Friday);
*Any student who was absent on the original day whether you are purchasing a package or not. If this pertains to your child, please email Mrs. Thornton for a picture form to be sent home with your student or go online to mylifetouch.com and to set up your picture order (this must be done by Tuesday evening). ONLY students getting their picture taken on Wednesday may come to school in dress-down (dress-up!) attire. As always, attire must adhere to the school’s dress down guidelines from the school handbook.
