Cross Country Update

Saint James School would like to extend a huge thank you to Mrs. Jennifer O’Neill for her dedication and commitment to our school’s Cross Country program, which she took on almost a decade ago.  Volunteering many hours of her time to bring her passion for running to the SJS community, our team went on to successfully compete against much bigger schools while enjoying a wonderful camaraderie among runners.

We would love to continue the SJS Cross Country program now that Mrs. O’Neill has “retired” from her coaching role, but are still in need of someone to step up as head coach.  The program kicks off in September, so unfortunately we will be unable to have a team this year if no one volunteers to take a lead role.  If anyone is interested in helping, please reach out asap to our Athletic Director, Mr. Green, at cgreen@saintjamesschool.net.

Classroom Visit/Supply Drop-Off Reminder

On Wednesday, August 31st all Pre-K through grade 8 parents/guardians and their student(s) are invited to stop by the school between the hours of 8:30am and 11:30pm, to visit the classrooms, meet the homeroom teachers, and drop-off your child’s school supplies.  This is a drop-in event, please come at whatever time works for your schedule.

Mrs. Guenther will be available at the main entrance of the K-8 building to help families find their child’s classroom if needed.  Our school nurse will be in her office from 8:30 until 10:00am if you need to drop off medication for your child.

Please note, K-8 students DO NOT need to be in their uniforms for these visits.

We look forward to seeing you!

All orders should be placed by end of day today to ensure delivery.

This summer Saint James School offered the option to order school supplies online and have them delivered directly to your home.  At the same time, Saint James School receives a percentage of every sale – convenience for you and a great way to support SJS!  If you would still like to take advantage of this option: Click Here to Visit the School Toolbox Website.

Cross Country Coach Needed

Saint James School is looking for a parent volunteer to take the lead on coaching our Cross Country team for this upcoming school year.  Unfortunately, Mrs. O’Neill is unable to return as coach.  If you are able to help out, please reach out to our Athletic Director, Mr. Green, at cgreen@saintjamesschool.net

Aftercare Assistant Needed

Saint James School is looking to hire an additional Aftercare Assistant for this upcoming school year.  If you know of anyone who might be interested, please have them reach out to Mrs. Zorger (bzorger@saintjamesschool.net).

Staff Change

Our Middle School history/social studies teacher, Mr. Adams, has decided to take a teaching position closer to his hometown for the upcoming school year and therefore, will not be returning to SJS this Fall.  Mrs. Zorger is currently accepting resumes and interviewing candidates for the position.  If you know of anyone who may be interested, please have them reach out to Mrs. Zorger (bzorger@saintjamesschool.net).

SJS is Celebrating100 Years of Excellence in Education!

This September, Saint James School will celebrate 100 YEARS of providing an exceptional, faith-filled education to students in the greater Manchester area! We invite all SJS families, alumni, parishioners, and other friends of the school to join us as we kick off this exciting milestone over the course of two days.

100th Anniversary Information

As a reminder, our Fall Festival will take place at Saint James School on Saturday, September 17th.  Grade-level ambassadors have been selected and will all be reaching out to families (by grade) shortly to discuss helping with this event.  If you are not comfortable with your email address being shared with our parent volunteers (for purposes of communicating about the event), please notify Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net by Sunday, July 31st.

Also, we are in need of additional volunteers to help out in three different areas.  Please use this link to share your interest in helping with one or more of the areas below:  https://forms.gle/F5h6borfReAujtJj7  (Those that already reached out to us may also use this form to indicate where they would like to help).

Gardening Committee – Weed, plant flowers, and mulch the flower beds on the Saint James School campus.  This should be done before the start of school with a quick refresh in advance of our centennial events on September 17th & 18th.

Open House Decorating Committee – Help us finalize plans for our Open House event (for alumni, donors, families, etc.) and participate in set-up/decorating the afternoon of Saturday, September 17th (decorating for Sunday’s event will begin after the Fall Festival ends).

Open House Hospitality Committee – Help make decisions about food and beverages at the event and be at the school on Sunday, September 18th to welcome guests, assist with serving, and clean-up after the Open House concludes.

Questions can be directed to Amy Guenther.  Thank you for your time and support as we celebrate and commemorate this exciting milestone!

Parents are responsible for ensuring their student comes to school in appropriate attire each day.  A few notes to keep in mind as you are planning back-to-school uniform attire:

School Bus Transportation

For Manchester residents (K-8 program) whose child/ren DID NOT use school bus transportation last year but you WOULD like them to use it this coming school year, please make sure you have spoken to Mrs. Guenther to discuss the town’s new registration procedures by Monday, August 1st (paperwork showing residency must be submitted to the town).  Students that rode the school bus last year to and/or home from SJS are being grandfathered in and do not need to complete this new process.
