“If there were one million families praying the Rosary every day, the entire world would be saved.” – Pope St. Pius X
Happy October! This is one of my favorite months of the year, not only because I love fall weather and the changing leaves, but because the Catholic Church has dedicated it as the Month of the Rosary. October 7th is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary or Our Lady of Victory, which was established by Pope St. Pius V in 1571. The rosary is a beautiful devotional and contemplative style of prayer that invites us to meditate on significant moments in Jesus’s life through the intercession of Mary. Countless people’s lives have been beautifully changed after they began to pray the rosary regularly.
I would like to encourage all families to intentionally add the rosary to their lives at some point this month. Maybe on Oct. 7, the family can pray one rosary together. If it’s hard to get 25 minutes with everyone, pray one decade of a rosary to or from school every day and you’ll complete it in a week! If you already pray a daily rosary, maybe challenge yourself with a full 20 decade rosary or a scriptural rosary. Give yourself the gift of our Blessed Mother’s care.
If you are new to praying the rosary or don’t remember how, the USCCB explains it all HERE. There are also various ways to listen/pray along with recorded rosaries via podcasts, music streaming, YouTube, etc. If you’re interested in learning more about the history of the rosary, check out THIS INFO from Dynamic Catholic.
In other news, our joint school choir (with students from both parish schools) is coming together! If your student is in grades 1-8, is interested in participating, and hasn’t been signed up yet, please do so HERE. Within the next few days, I will be emailing information about our first practice to families who have expressed an interest.
As always, if you have a suggestion for me to consider regarding campus ministry, please share it HERE. You can also reach me at campusminister@saintteresacatholic.org.
I pray our Blessed Mother intercedes for you and your family in a particular way this month. May you recognize her motherly love in your life.
