Acts of Kindness Week
Next week, both of our parish schools will host an Acts of Kindness week. A special Kindness Tree has been created at each school, and starting next week, paper leaves will be added to celebrate the random acts of kindness performed by students. Special activities will also take place in the classrooms each day next week.
In keeping with the theme, Mrs. McAdams, our school social worker, has put together some suggested activities that families can also do at home to spread kindness:
- Schedule set family mealtimes (with no phones at the table) where each family member shares something kind they did that day.
- Compliment your child(ren) when they complete a chore without being asked.
- Reach out to someone and ask how they are doing.
- Start a family Gratitude Jar. Each member writes down one thing they’re grateful for each week and adds it to the jar. At the end of the year, read all the notes together.
- Share with someone why they are important or special to you.
- Donate old toys, bikes, or sports equipment to a nonprofit or youth organization.
- Bake something yummy for a neighbor.
- Take a 48-hour break from social media.
- Leave positive messages on sticky notes around the house.
- Write a note to someone who has supported you.
