Saint James School depends on your partnership in keeping our school community healthy. Please conduct daily health assessments on your child before school and keep them home if they feel unwell and/or have a fever. Below is a summary of the most recent (8/25/22) Saint James School protocol related to Covid and Covid-like symptoms:

Students and staff who have any symptoms of respiratory illness should not come to school if:

* they have a temperature of 100+ degrees or feel feverish, and

* they live with someone (or have had a known exposure to someone) who tested positive for Covid within the last two weeks

Individuals should not return to school until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication and have provided a negative Covid test to the nurse.

Please contact the nurse for guidance before returning to school.

Students and staff that have mild respiratory illness symptoms (congestion, infrequent cough, runny nose, sore throat, etc.) may continue to come to school at the nurse’s discretion as long as they have a negative Covid test and:

* they are fever-free (less than 100 degrees) and they feel well enough to participate

* they do not live with someone (or have had a known exposure to someone) who tested positive for Covid within the last two weeks

Please contact the nurse for guidance before returning to school.

Covid Exposures

Students and staff may come to school following a known Covid exposure (household or other) provided:

*they have no respiratory symptoms

they agree to test on day 5 after exposure

they wear a mask to school for the 10 days following exposure

Please contact the nurse to discuss protocol before coming to school

Covid Positive Individuals

Students and staff who test positive for Covid:

*need to stay home and isolate from other family members if possible

*may return to school on day 6, if their symptoms have significantly resolved, they feel well enough to participate, and are able to wear a mask consistently and properly for the next 5 days

students whose symptoms have not resolved and/or do not want to wear a mask must continue to stay home for days 6-10

Please contact the nurse to discuss protocol before coming to school
