Book & Art Club
Hosted by the Saint James School librarian and elementary art teacher, the Saint James School Book & Art Club is open to students in 1st – 4th grade. During each session, students listen to a story and then complete craft projects related to that story. Crafts and stories are typically themed around the season or a specific Holiday. Recent examples include:
- A reading of the story “3 Pandas Planting” (about Earth Day ways to help save our Earth) as well as a National Geographic book filled with fun panda facts. In conjunction with the story, students made a clay sculpture of a panda as well as a panda painting.
- A reading of “The Valentine Bears” followed by making Valentine treat candies out of model magic to put in heart-shaped boxes.
- A reading of the book “Snow What Fun” followed by students creating their own winter scene in a plastic snow globe.
- A reading of stories about the first Thanksgiving followed by students making their own Mayflower Ship & Cornucopia.
