Pre-Kindergarten Programs
All children attending Saint James Preschool must be toilet trained. They may not wear Pull-Ups to school and must be able to use the restrooms with no assistance.

3-Year-Old Program Options
(Child must be 3 by September 1 of the current school year):
Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:00am – 12:00pm
Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 2:00pm
Curriculum Highlights:
- Following directions in a group setting
- Themed show ‘n’ tell, days of the week, weather, and story time
- Singing, dancing, and playing games
- Recognition of shapes, colors, patters, letters and numbers
- Small and large motor skill activities
- Weekly age-appropriate themed lessons that consist of books, songs, and crafts,
- Holiday celebrations
- Simple prayers and learning about God
- Progress reports issued twice a year
- End-of-year celebration with families and friends
- Full-time students have the option to use the school’s Extended Day program
4– & 5-Year-Old Program Options
(Child must be 4 by September 1 of the current school year):
Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 12:00pm
Monday – Friday 8:00am – 2:00pm
Program Highlights:
- Group activities including Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, calendar, weather, singing, dancing, reading, and playing games
- Recognition and writing of upper and lower case letters with an introduction to sign language
- Self-expression through sharing and show-and-tell
- Recognition of writing numbers, shapes, colors, and patterns
- Weekly SEEDS magazine for preschool – brings scripture reading and activities into the themed monthly lessons
- Center-based activities that offer individual and small group learning opportunities
- Weekly story-time with the “big school” librarian
- Playtime outside in our fenced-in play area and next door in the “big school” gym
- Bi-weekly age-appropriate themed lessons
- Holiday celebrations with families and friends
- Age-appropriate field trips
- Progress reports issued twice a year
- “Stepping Up” celebration for family and friends on the last day of school
- Buddy program with the SJS 3rd Grade Students (involves reading, crafting, playing together)
- Rest time for full-day students
