Exceptional Academics

Fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Saint James offers an environment filled with intellectual challenges as well as varied opportunities for physical, artistic, and social development.

Our curriculum covers the core academic subjects including mathematics, language arts, reading, science, and social studies.  Students receive an excellent education in these critical academic subjects. Academics are enhanced through the school’s areas of specialized instruction including:

• Religion, including First Penance and First Communion preparation
• Music: theory, vocal, and band
• Technology
• STREAM
• Spanish Language (Grades 3-8)
• Art
• Physical Education

In addition, to enhance learning and ensure that each child progresses at his or her own pace, children are grouped by ability in core subjects beginning in fifth grade.  Additionally, starting in grade 4, students rotate classes to take advantage of each teacher’s particular area of expertise.  Middle school children rotate classes following an 8 period per day schedule.

Curriculum by Grade

Teachers follow a rigorous academic curriculum, with additional material added based on current events, class interests, and class aptitude.  Individual learning styles are also addressed through differentiated instruction.
