Third grade students were surprised (and excited!) to come to school this morning to find their two classrooms transformed into “Reading Cafés” – each with a roaring fireplace (on the smartboard), decorated tables, and their teacher dressed as a maître d’. This special lesson was to teach the 3rd graders about different genres of books and to encourage them to broaden their reading horizons.
Students sampled several types of books during this “book tasting” opportunity – spending 10-15 minutes at each station to get a taste of books from different genres. Saint James Principal, Mrs. Zorger, also enjoyed visiting a few tables this morning. Any books the students enjoyed “tasting,” they could make note of for further reading in the future.
