Yesterday afternoon we received word of two additional positive cases of Covid-19 among individuals in our school. Since it is clear this virus is still out there in our communities (in addition to a few others that are currently going around) paying attention to your children’s health and erring on the side of caution needs to continue to be a daily priority for every family.  We really do appreciate the extra time spent to evaluate your children’s health every day.  We know sickness is inevitable, the goal is to keep students out of quarantine and in the classroom so please continue to monitor your child/ren on a daily basis and keep students home if they present with symptoms or have had a known exposure.

Please keep in mind the following symptoms that seem to be common with a Covid-19 infection (and seek medical evaluation if there isn’t improvement in 24 hours or new symptoms arise):

* Fatigue has been a very common indicator
* Congestion (stuffy/runny nose)
* Cough
* Fever
* And, of course, loss of taste or smell

We want to reiterate that the school will always reach out with a personal phone call to discuss the situation if your child has been in close contact with someone who subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.  If your child was in a classroom with someone who tested positive (but there was no close contact) families with a student in that classroom will receive an email. While we do not plan to send an email every time there is a case at the school (since impacted families are already being notified), please take note that we are seeing an unusual number of cases at this time so it is important to remain vigilant.

Saint James School continues to be steadfast with our published Covid protocols, as those have proven to help mitigate spread throughout the past year.  As always, families should continue to reach out to Mrs. Vignati (our school nurse) with any health question or concerns.

Thank you again for your support and partnership – we are very grateful.
